The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange Countys most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475000 addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges facilitating professional development legal guidance payroll career and technical education support high-speed internet access Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval resources for families and student enrichment. OCDEs vision is that Orange County students will lead the nation in college and career readiness and success. Department staff are working to achieve this goal in collaboration with educators at all levels of student development from early childhood through higher education and in partnership with families businesses and community organizations.

Support you a Registered Nurse looking for meaningful flexible work where you can make a difference in the lives of studentsThe Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) is looking for a compassionate and dependable Substitute School Nurse to support students in our ACCESS Alternative Education is a great opportunity for a nurse who enjoys working with young people and wants the flexibility of a substitute schedule. Youll work approximately 23 days per week with opportunities for additional days as needed providing essential health services when our regular nursing staff are unavailable. You may assess illnesses or injuries respond to medical needs and emergencies administer medications support students with chronic health conditions implement individualized health plans and collaborate with families and school staff. Short Term School NurseWhat Were Looking ForCandidates must have a valid California Registered Nurse license a bachelors degree or higher and a valid California School Nurse Services Credential (Preliminary or Clear). Experience in California public education is highly desirable.
