SUMMARY OF ASSIGNMENT
Under general direction of the building principal with lead direction from the Director of Student Services provides health related services for students. Demonstrates competency in providing direct nursing care to students as delegated by an ESA Certified Registered Nurse. Maintains records as required by State statute and District policy.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Accompanies technology dependent students to and from school when medical status is considered at risk for life threatening event during transport; uses skilled nursing judgment.
Performs standard physical health care procedures; tests and records vision weight hearing scoliosisand immunization status of students.
Provides health and nutrition education to children and parents in coordination with other staff.
Assists with the identification prevention and control of communicable diseases; observes universal precautions at all times.
Assembles organizes and maintains student health records files and supplies.
Coordinates District and community services for students with paraeducators volunteers school nurseand building administrator.
Administers first aid CPT and emergency care to students who are sick or injured; notifies school nurse administrator and parents as required. Completes accident and suspected child abuse reportsas required.
Administers prescription and non-prescription medicine as prescribed by health care professional orparents; maintains daily log.
Attends training related to students medical treatment needs.
Performs other essential functions as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
- Washington State license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse or a Registered Nurse
- Ability and desire to work on a constant basis minimum 1 time a month
- Desire and ability to work and communicate effectively with staff students and parents from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Required Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the principles of nursing and medical terminology.
- Knowledge of the principles and practices of aseptic/sterile techniques and infectious disease control.
- Knowledge of care and maintenance of medical supplies and equipment.
- Knowledge of first aid and CPR.
- Knowledge of both normal and abnormal anatomy physiology psycho/social and disease entities.
- Ability to communicate in person writing or on the phone with students staff parents and volunteersin a diverse environment.
- Ability to work under pressure adjust to varied situations demands and new health issues.
- Ability to learn and integrate policies and procedures adopted by the school building the District and theState of Washington.
- Ability to be entrusted with confidential and sensitive information.
Certification and Licenses
- Washington State license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse or a registered nurse with anassociates degree.
- First Aid and CPR Card
Desirable Qualification
Previous experience working with school-age children.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The work environment characteristics described are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. The employee is assigned to a specificwork area; required to have precise control of fingers and hand movements; experiences constant interruptions and inflexible deadlines; and must be able to stoop crouch crawl bend kneel stand for periods of time and lift in order to assist a student with personal care. The employee is required to deal with distraught and/or angry persons and is exposed to infectious diseases carried by children. The noise level in the work environment is acceptable to this particular environment and can vary depending upon daily activity but will remain within acceptable ranges.

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Employment with Clover Park School District is conditional pending completion of a Washington State Patrol and Federal Bureau of Investigation fingerprint background check as required by RCW28A.400.303. (NOTE: All associated background check fees are the employees responsibility.) The fingerprint scan must be completed prior to the first day of employment.
