Instructional Assistant-Special Education IBASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor assist in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students in a special education resource learning environment; assist the teacher in meeting the educational needs of learning handicapped students and students enrolled in the Resource Specialist Program (RSP) Special Day Class (SDC) or other students as assigned; perform a variety of clerical duties as assigned. Instructional Assistant-Special Education IIBASIC FUNCTION: Under the direction of an assigned supervisor assist a certificated teacher in providing instruction to individual or small groups of severely physically or visually handicapped students in a classroom; monitor and report student progress regarding behavior and performance; assist students in developing various self-help social and community skills. Intensive Behavior Interventions AssistantBASIC FUNCTION Under the direction of an assigned Special Education Manager assist a certificated teacher in the supervision and instruction of special education students in a variety of educational settings including other district locations community and classroom.

Requirements / Qualifications

Instructional Assistant-Special Education IEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent. Experience working with students in special education is desired. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Pass equivalent academic assessment test that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in teaching reading writing and mathematics or reading writing and mathematics readiness. Instructional Assistant-Special Education IIEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent and six months of working with students in special education. LICENSES AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS: Pass equivalent academic assessment test that demonstrates knowledge of and the ability to assist in teaching reading writing and mathematics or reading writing and mathematics readiness. Obtain valid CPR certification within 6 months after hire and renew as required. Intensive Behavior Interventions AssistantEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent and one year experience working with students in special education and satisfactory completion of a proficiency examination. LICENSE & OTHER REQUIREMENTS: A valid Californias drivers license and proof of current and appropriate auto insurance coverage. Valid First Aid and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation) Certificate required. TRAINING: Forty (40) hours of Intensive Behavior Intervention training must be successfully completed within the first 3 months of employment.
