Substitute Custodian

FRANKLIN-MCKINLEY ELEMENTARY SCHOOL DISTRICTCLASS TITLE: CUSTODIANBASIC FUNCTION:Under the direction of an assigned Principal perform routine custodial activities at an assigned school site or facility to maintain assigned areas in a clean orderly and secure condition on an assigned DUTIES:Perform routine custodial activities at assigned District school site; sweep scrub mop wax and polish floors and vacuum rugs and carpets in classrooms offices and other work areas; spot clean and shampoo carpets. EClean classrooms restrooms showers locker rooms gym cafeteria offices and related facilities as assigned; spot mop spills and remove gum and debris. EClean and disinfect drinking fountains sinks toilets showers and urinals; fill dispensers with towels soap toilet paper and feminine hygiene items; clean mirrors tile and windows. EWash windows and walls; remove graffiti from walls as needed. EClean chalkboards and erasers and empty pencil sharpeners. EReplace light bulbs and lighting tubes; dust and polish furniture and woodwork and make minor non-technical repairs as needed. ELock and unlock doors and gates as assigned. EMaintain security of assigned areas according to established guidelines; turn alarm system on or off as assigned by the position; report suspicious or unauthorized individuals on campus; report safety sanitary and fire hazards to appropriate authority; report need for maintenance repairs to appropriate authority. EDispose of trash according to established procedures; wash out trash cans and follow established sanitation procedures and standards. EOperate cleaning equipment such as vacuums buffer and polisher carpet shampooer scrubbers high-pressure sprayer and manual and power sweepers and power blower. E Clean tables chairs and floors after breakfast and lunch periods as assigned. ERaise or lower flags as assigned. E Set up gymnasium and/or other facilities for classes and events as required; move furniture as needed; set up chairs tables bleachers and other facilities for special events and activities; clean up debris following to emergency cleanups such as spills; maintain records of observed maintenance and repair needs and safety related duties as AND ABILITIES:Knowledge of:Basic methods materials tools and equipment used in custodial work and routine methods of storing equipment materials and lifting techniques. Ability to:Perform routine custodial activities at an assigned school site or facility to maintain assigned areas in a clean orderly and secure cleaning materials equipment and methods according to pre-determined and apply knowledge of the schedules procedures and use of equipment and supplies used in custodial appropriate safety precautions and tools and equipment signed in clean working order and provide proper minor non-technical and report need for maintenance and and follow oral and written schedules and time effectively with and assure the security of facilities during assigned effectively both orally and in and maintain cooperative and effective relationships with regular AND EXPERIENCE:Any combination equivalent to: sufficient training and experience to demonstrate the knowledge and abilities listed above and some experience performing routine custodial CONDITIONS:Environment:Indoor environment. Physical demands:Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate small hand and power tools and to perform custodial at the waist kneeling or overhead above the shoulders or carrying moving pushing or pulling heavy ladders to clean and replace :Exposure to cleaning at heights.
