About this Role

R.R. Cassidy Inc. is a leader in electrical systems and power solutions providing cutting-edge services to a wide range of industries. We are seeking a skilled and motivated Substation Journeyman to join our team. This position will focus on substation relay and apparatus testing with a strong emphasis on ensuring the safe and effective operation of electrical power systems. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical background an eye for detail and a willingness to travel frequently for project work.

What Youll Do
  • Install and maintain equipment
    • Transformers circuit breakers switches relays and control systems
  • Perform inspections and testing
    • Diagnose faults using specialized tools and test equipment
  • Repair and troubleshoot
    • Identify electrical or mechanical issues and fix them efficiently
  • Read and interpret technical documents
    • Blueprints schematics wiring diagrams
  • Ensure safety compliance
    • Follow OSHA and company safety procedures when working with high-voltage systems
  • Operate heavy equipment
    • Bucket trucks cranes and other machinery for installation and repair
  • Assist in construction projects
    • Build new substations or upgrade existing ones

Travel Requirements:

  • Extensive travel is required with some trips lasting several weeks. Travel schedules are planned in advance with periods of high travel demand expected
What Youll Bring
  • At least 2 years of experience in testing and commissioning electrical power systems and controls. Previous experience working in HV substations preferred.
  • This position will require both technical expertise and the ability to work efficiently in both office and field environments
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting electrical single-line diagrams three-line drawings schematics/wiring diagrams network diagrams and mechanical drawings.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for electrical equipment and controls during and post-energization.
  • Knowledge of electrical hazards (shock arc flash) and a strong commitment to adhering to industry-standard safety practices.
