We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer Substation Design to join a leading engineering team in the energy and utilities sector. This full-time position offers the opportunity to lead and support substation projects up to 765kV encompassing both physical and protection & control (P&C) design elements.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support substation projects (69kV765kV) including layouts schematics and detailed design.
- Develop drawings wiring diagrams grounding systems relay panel layouts and auxiliary power systems.
- Perform QA/QC reviews of design packages ensuring adherence to technical standards and project requirements.
- Mentor junior engineers and oversee technical deliverables.
- Coordinate with clients internal teams and vendors to ensure quality and timely delivery.
- Prepare engineering budgets schedules construction specifications and procurement documents.
- Support business development proposal preparation and client presentations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (required).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in high-voltage substation design (69kV and above) for a U.S. power utility.
- Project Lead or Technical Specialist experience.
- Strong background in QA/QC and client coordination.
- Proficiency in Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary: $120000 $210000 per year (commensurate with experience and location)

Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will have prior experience working for an established engineering consulting firm such as Burns & McDonnell TRC Ulteig or HDR with demonstrated expertise in high-voltage substation design and project delivery.
Compensation: $120000.00 - $210000.00 per year
