These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects effect expansion of successful pilot programs and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals families and communities across New York Culture:We embrace a culture of learning collaboration innovation and well-being where open communication drives our the Program:The National HIV Behavioral Surveillance Study (NHBS) is an annual CDC-sponsored project in NYC and other participating sites. The project is aimed at measuring HIV prevalence testing access to and utilization of HIV prevention services and behaviors among groups at an increased risk for HIV. For 2026 we will conduct a cycle among men who have sex with men (MSM). Participants will undergo an interviewer-administered survey be offered testing for HIV and offered linkages to HIV prevention and care services. Participants will be recruited via venue-based sampling (VBS) a method for recruiting attendees at venues where MSM congregate with a recruitment goal of 550 The Role:The HIV Epidemiology Program (HEP) of the NYC Health Department is recruiting for Study Interviewers/Recruiters for the NHBSMSM2026 cycle. The Interviewers/Recruiters will report to the NHBS Study Operations Supervisor (SOS). The Interviewers/Recruiters will recruit participants at or outside MSM venues using street-intercept methods and conduct confidential standardized quantitative interviews with MSM using a study tablet. Study staff in this position must: 1) adhere to strict detailed survey research protocols; 2) have the ability to comply with strict protocols for confidentiality; 3) have strong attention to detail; and 4) have the ability to establish rapport with diverse racial/ethnic socioeconomic and sexual orientation groups. Training for all study activities will be provided. Staff in this position will be expected to maintain confidentiality effectively communicate with their supervisor daily and be on time for all study activities. This is a temporary part-time position until December 2026 or until the sample size is met (n550). Evening night and weekend hours will be required. Responsibilities:Recruit participants outside bars/clubs events and other locations where MSM in-person standardized surveys with study potential participants for eligibility and obtain informed and maintain interview materials and with guidelines for maintaining safety data security and participant local safety procedures and report any incidents and adverse events to the SOS data integrity (i.e. accurately document participant information on paper and electronic forms) and maintain participant in all NYC Health Department and CDC required duties as assigned to support the overall goals and mission of thedepartment/ :High School Diploma or be willing to work evenings nights (possibly until 3am) and to travel throughout to learn and use computerized interview oral communication asking questions about health sex drug use and stigma/ to create a comfortable and non-judgmental interview to work as part of a research working in venues and locations where sexual activity qualificationsProficiency in SpanishExperience working with MSM is an advantage but not to interact with a diverse population in a friendly non-judgmental and affirmative working in fast-paced people-facing environmentsExperience working effectively in a team of colleaguesEmployment is contingent upon the successful completion of a background checkBenefits:This position will be hired through a staffing agency.
