Job Description:

This project situates the evolution and deployment of the concept of scientism in the early work of Austrian economist Friedrich Hayek. The neologism became a central plank of Hayeks argument against centralized economic planning. The project provides valuable historical context for the use and popularization of scientism while at the same time illuminating its political salience in Hayeks thought. The researcher will translate some correspondence of Hayeks from his native German into English.
