Job Summary:

The Oregon State University Honors College is seeking a Student Engagement Coordinator. This is a full-time (1.00 FTE) 12-month professional faculty position.

The Oregon State University Honors College (HC) is a degree granting college within Academic Affairs at Oregon State University (OSU). The overall mission of the college is to provide an innovative enriched learning experience to undergraduates integrating students from all academic colleges into a cohesive community. The college supports OSUs strategic initiatives; advances equity inclusion and diversity; and provides employees with resources to meet the colleges strategic priorities while also supporting employee professional development and growth.

Key Responsibilities:

50% Honors CollegeEvent Development PlanningImplementation and Assessment

  • Planimplement and assessco-curricularand extracurricularopportunities events and activities that advance college strategic goalsand build communityfor continuing Honors College students on Corvallis and Cascades campuses and for students studying new initiatives programs andopportunities thatadvancethe learning outcomes of the Honors College through both social events and academically focused events and student event assistants.


15% Coordinate andAdviseHonors CollegeStudentClubs andOrganizations.

  • Advisethe Honors College Student Association a volunteer programming body as well as otherdepartment-sponsored student supportstudentsin the process of developingestablishing andmaintainingnew HC student groupswith particular emphasis on identity and affinity organizations.

15% Develop and SupportPre-ProfessionalOpportunities

  • Work with campuspartners to develop new opportunities forhonors students to gain professional development through student groups experiential learning and events that will expose them to potential career fieldsand opportunitiesin their major areas of study.


10% Honors College Parent and Family Engagement Programming

  • Develop engagement opportunities and informational resources for the parents and families of current Honors College the development of the Honors College Parent and Family Newsletter. Collaborate with the New Student Onboarding Office to develop Honors College content for the OSU Family Portal.


10% Other Duties and Professional Development

  • Develop understanding of best practices in areas of College recruitment and new student onboarding programsthat advance equity and access to college opportunities.

Qualifications:

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in any field

  • At least one year ofexperiencemanaging events

  • Excellent effectivewrittenoraland interpersonalcommunications skills

  • Demonstrated competence with standard office technologyand software

  • Project management experience

  • Ability to manage to budget

  • Demonstrated experience creating and implementing opportunities thatfacilitateengagement between people of diverse backgrounds and/or identities

This position is designated as a critical or security-sensitive position; therefore the incumbent must successfully complete a criminal history check and be determined to be position qualified as per University Standard: 05-010 et seq. Incumbents are required to self-report convictions and those in youth programs may have additional criminal history checks every24 months.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in higher education administration or related field

  • Experience working in higher education

  • Experience developingplanningand implementing events in support of student engagement professional developmentand persistence

  • Experience working in an honors program or college

  • Supervisory experience

Working Conditions/Schedule:
Role requires occasional work outside of weekday and standard hours.
