Job Summary

Student Assistant - Electrical Labs
Salary:Minimum Wage

This position will work under supervision of lab assistant to:

  • Prepare and install lab equipment/supplies for student/faculty use;
  • Assist staff with daily lab operations;
  • Re-stock electronic components for lab use;
  • Perform basic testing and identification of problems in lab test and training equipment;
  • Configure lab facilities including installation of new equipment and fixtures;
  • Other duties may include general office work including mail delivery and pick up and assisting instructors in electrical labs.

The successful candidate will work up to 20 hours per week.

Qualifications:
  • Must be a current MVCC student who is enrolled in 6 credit hours in EET EST or Air Conditioning Technology program
  • Must be familiar with electronic components and able to identify parts using specification sheets and/or catalogs
  • Must be able to read schematic diagrams and identify symbols and wiring
  • Must be able to operate basic test equipment including digital multimeter oscilloscope and function generator
  • Must be familiar with basic computer use and related software
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds
