Structures Project Engineer (Preservation)
The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) is looking for a Structures Project Engineer for Bridge Preservation. This highly skilled individual will manage and coordinate engineering assignments including: planning program development design construction oversight budget and schedule for all UDOT structures preservation projects.
About the Role
In this role you will work at the central UDOT office in the Structures Design group and work closely with the Bridge Performance Management Engineer Region Project Managers and Region Pavement Engineers in the delivery of preservation projects. You will be assigned to work as a structure specialist to provide technical information and support to region customers in the preservation rehabilitation and repair of structural this position you will be responsible for oversight of the structure portion of preservation projects and spend a majority of time managing directing and contracting of the bridge preservation program.

- Salary Range: $46.67 - $74.06
- FT/PT Status: Full Time

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage project delivery for the bridge preservation program
- Provide technical expertise for structural designs and the development of structures plans and specifications related to bridge preservation.
- Oversee the development of and revisions to standards specifications typical details manuals and processes related to bridge preservation design and construction.
- Provide support to construction teams on bridge preservation related items.
- Collaborate to develop solutions and provide recommendations to address structures construction related issues or plan errors.
- Serve as a liaison with other Divisions Agencies and external industries during design and construction.
- Set goals establish priorities and makes management decisions in support of the Structures Division.
- Participate in the selection of consulting engineers; Manage consultant resources; determine workload and delegate assignments; monitor and evaluate performance applicable to construction.
- Monitor and evaluate programs and processes for quality and effectiveness; make recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications
- Licensure: Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of Utah.
- Note: Out-of-state licensees must obtain reciprocity with Utah prior to their official start date.
- Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of professional engineering experience following initial PE licensure.
Knowledge Skills & Abilities
- Technical & Industry Expertise
- Deep understanding of civil and structural engineering principles theories and field practices.
- In-depth knowledge of AASHTO design codes and hands-on proficiency with industry-standard structural design software.
- Strong familiarity with UDOT plans specifications quality control procedures and design standards.
- Knowledge of best practices for preservation and rehabilitation.

- Demonstrated ability to lead teams delegate work effectively and foster a collaborative environment.
- Experience selecting and managing external consultants directing workflows and evaluating project performance.
