Colorado School of Mines is seeking a skilled Structural Trades II professional to join our Facilities Management team. This position plays an essential role in maintaining the safety functionality and appearance of our campus by performing advanced building maintenance repairs renovations and preventative maintenance activities across a wide variety of facilities.

The Structural Trades team is responsible for maintaining and improving campus facilities through a combination of preventative maintenance repairs renovations and special projects. Team members work closely with supervisors contractors vendors and fellow trades professionals to address building needs and enhance the campus experience.

What Youll Do
Building Maintenance Repairs & Preventative Maintenance (85%)Youll perform skilled maintenance and repair work on a wide range of structural building systems and components including:
- Drywall installation repair finishing and advanced painting techniques
- Carpentry repairs including framing trim work shelving cabinetry and general building repairs
- Installation of whiteboards bulletin boards signage artwork fixtures and other building components
- Flooring wall ceiling door and window repairs
- Roofing siding gutter masonry concrete and exterior building repairs
- Weatherproofing and building envelope maintenance
- Preventative maintenance inspections and corrective repairs
- Renovation and special project support
- Emergency response activities as needed
- Minor furniture appliance and equipment repairs
This role requires the ability to independently diagnose facility issues determine appropriate repair methods select materials and equipment and complete projects safely and efficiently.
Snow Removal & Campus Support (10%)During winter weather events youll help ensure campus safety by:
- Shoveling snow and clearing walkways
- Applying ice melt appropriately
- Operating snow blowers and other assigned equipment
- Supporting campus operations and special assignments as needed
Youll accurately document:
- Labor hours
- Materials used
- Completed work activities
- Preventative maintenance tasks
Using the universitys computerized maintenance management system (CMMS).

Minimum Qualifications:
Experience Only:Four (4) yearsof relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned to this position which included:
- Experience performing building maintenance repair renovation or construction work
- Experience with advanced drywall repair finishing and painting techniques
- Experience with carpentry and general building repairs
- Basic computer skills including email and computerized work order systems
Education and Experience:A combination of related education formalized apprenticeship program and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the work assigned equal to four (4) years (Transcripts must be attached for educational credit).
Preferred Qualifications:- Experience working with contractors and vendors
- Welding experience
- Experience coordinating projects with multiple trades
- Leadership or crew lead experience
- Facilities maintenance experience in an institutional higher education healthcare or commercial environment
- Experience performing preventative maintenance inspections
- Prior relevant state service
