Job Summary

ScopeThe Project Engineer 1 will lead design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low to moderate complexity projects and collaborate with senior staff for the delivery of larger and high complexity projects. They will be responsible for working closely with a team of engineers and consultants to provide engineering solutions and advice to clients to ensure positive outcomes. Primary responsibilities will include engineering analysis design and implementation oversight of structural systems for buildings and other structures. This position will be expected to work within the projects monetary budget train mentor and collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet project goals and client expectations. Principal ResponsibilitiesLead efforts for the analysis and design of structural systems using a variety of building materials; Utilize engineering software and tools to create detailed designs specifications and calculations according to code requirements and JQIMEG standardsInteract with clients to understand their needs gather project requirements and communicate technical information effectively; Build and maintain client relationships through professional communicationWork as part of a project team to support the execution of consulting projects; Lead efforts in project planning budgeting and scheduling tasks to meet project deadlines and objectives; Document design decisions and instructions from clients while monitoring project design progress as related to percent complete and fee expendedAnalyze engineering problems and propose innovative solutions; Collaborate with senior engineers and consultants to develop practical and efficient solutionsProvide in-process design reviews of structural system design calculations and specifications; Implement JQIMEG quality control processes to ensure that engineering designs and solutions meet JQIMEG quality standards industry standards and client requirementsStay up to date with industry trends emerging technologies and best practices in structural engineering; Contribute to research development and innovation efforts within JQIMEGPrioritize safety in all aspects of engineering workConduct oneself in an ethical and professional mannerCollaborate with multidisciplinary teams including other engineers architects and project managers to deliver integrated solutions that meet project goalsIdentify potential project problems and seek advice from the Project ManagerOversee projects through bidding design and construction administration phasesRequired Skills/AbilitiesProficiency in design techniques tools and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specificationsStrong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in mechanics and materials load paths design techniques design standards including steel concrete wood masonry and concepts involved in structural systems of buildings and other structuresAbility to train and mentor less experienced staffProficiency of industry standard engineering software and tools including structural engineering design and analysis softwareExcellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groupsAbility to work collaboratively in a team environmentAttention to detail and problem-solving skillsEagerness to adapt to new challenges Proficiency in the use of BIM software Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word Excel and OutlookAbility to travel up to 10% with occasional overnight staysEducation and ExperienceBachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Structural or Architectural Engineering or equivalent requiredMasters Degree (MS) in Structural Engineering preferredProfessional Engineer (PE) License required2 years of experience minimum required 4 preferred in the building design consulting industryPhysical Requirements Regularly required to sit walk stand talk see hear and lift objects up to 25 pounds Occasionally required to drive kneel stoop crouch crawl reach with hands or arms and grasp or pullWill have limited exposure to outside weather conditions and loud noises
