Job Summary

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Capable of performing all the responsibilities listed in this job position
  2. Accountable for all engineering aspects of projects they sign and seal
  3. Complete daily engineering responsibilities with little guidance from superiors
  4. Lead minor departmental strategic initiatives
  5. Perform other related duties as required

Education and/or Experience

  1. Bachelors degree in civil engineering
  2. 4 years (minimum) experience in structural engineering
  3. Active P.E. license is required (Must be licensed in at least one state.)
  4. Experience with both the IRC and IBC building codes
  5. Experience in structural steel design per ASD and AISC engineering standards
  6. Experience in designing and engineering of wood structures per the American Wood Councils National Design Specifications and Special Design Provisions
  7. Experience in foundation design and engineering using ACI engineering standards
  8. Experience with the ASCE-7 minimum design load standards
  9. Experience in creating an electronic calculation booklet for submittal purposes

Travel

This position requires minimal travel to support SIPs activities.

Computer Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel Word PowerPoint and Access
  • Demonstrated proficiency in 2d and 3d structural FEA software tools
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using notational mathematical software programs

Other Requirements

  1. Self-Starter in creating new methodologies to support SIPSs engineering and products
  2. Able to communicate effectively with coworkers and clients
  3. Possess a broad knowledge of engineering principles and know how to apply
  4. Be able to obtain other Professional Engineering licenses as required

Other Skills

  1. History of ethical practice.
  2. Completing work in a timely manner.
  3. Able to follow written and verbal instructions.
  4. Able to foster continuous improvement initiatives.
