The Opportunity

RETTEW is seeking an experienced Stormwater Management Engineer to bring specialized stormwater expertise to our growing Land Development practice.


If you enjoy solving complex drainage challenges developing stormwater management strategies navigating permitting requirements and figuring out how to make technically sound solutions work on real sites this role offers the opportunity to make stormwater a meaningful part of your careernot simply one task within a broader civil design position.


Youll support projects ranging from redevelopment sites to complex multiphase developments exceeding 100 acres working alongside engineers Project Managers designers surveyors and environmental professionals.


Your work will directly influence how projects manage water meet regulatory requirements protect surrounding infrastructure and resources and move successfully from concept through permitting and construction.


What Youll Do

As a Stormwater Management Engineer you will:

  • Develop stormwater management and drainage solutions for commercial industrial residential mixed-use institutional municipal and redevelopment projects.
  • Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses drainage-area delineation stormwater modeling routing calculations and related engineering analyses.
  • Design stormwater management facilities conveyance systems drainage infrastructure and post-construction stormwater management solutions.
  • Support site grading erosion and sediment control utility coordination and other civil-site design elements associated with stormwater performance.
  • Prepare stormwater management reports calculations plans specifications permit applications and supporting technical documentation.
  • Support Pennsylvania NPDES PCSM erosion and sediment control and related stormwater permitting activities.
  • Evaluate existing drainage conditions and develop practical solutions that balance regulatory requirements site constraints constructability cost and client objectives.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers engineers designers surveyors environmental professionals clients municipalities conservation districts and regulatory agencies.
  • Respond to technical review comments and support projects through permitting and agency approval.
  • Review calculations drawings reports and other technical deliverables to support quality and consistency.
  • Participate in project and client meetings and communicate stormwater concepts clearly to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Share stormwater knowledge with other team members and contribute to the continued development of RETTEWs technical capabilities.


What Were Looking For


Required
  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering or a related engineering discipline from an accredited program.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT/EI) certification confirm exact RETTEW requirement.
  • Professional engineering experience with a meaningful focus on stormwater management drainage water resources and/or land development.
  • Hands-on experience performing hydrologic and hydraulic calculations and stormwater analyses.
  • Experience developing stormwater management or drainage designs for civil/site-development projects.
  • Working knowledge of grading erosion and sediment control utilities permitting and land development plans.
  • Experience preparing engineering calculations reports plans and permit-support documentation.
  • Experience with stormwater modeling or water-resources engineering software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Valid drivers license and ability to travel to project client or agency locations as needed.
Preferred
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania or another state with eligibility for Pennsylvania reciprocity.
  • Experience with Pennsylvania stormwater management requirements.
  • Experience with NPDES permitting PCSM design and Pennsylvania erosion and sediment control requirements.
  • Experience using HydroCAD StormCAD Hydraflow HEC-HMS HEC-RAS or comparable stormwater/water-resources modeling tools.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or comparable civil engineering design software.
  • Experience coordinating with municipalities conservation districts or regulatory agencies.
  • Experience supporting complex or large-scale land development projects.
  • Experience reviewing stormwater calculations/designs or providing technical guidance to other engineers and designers.

This role combines in-office collaboration focused technical/design work virtual coordination and occasional field visits client meetings and municipal or regulatory-agency meetings. Projects may support clients and communities across Pennsylvania and surrounding markets.
