This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO) a business group within HIIs Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations platforms and logistics and intelligence operations.

Summary

HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a COMSEC Specialist whois responsible forthe management safeguarding distribution and accountability of all Communications Security (COMSEC) materials and equipmentin accordance withNSA COMSEC policy and applicable national-level directives. This role ensures the secure operation of cryptographic devices across mission networks supports audits and inspections and provides training to personnel tomaintaincompliance and operational readiness.

This requisition supports hiring at multiple experience levels. Final placement will be determined based on the selected applicants qualifications experience and skill sets.

What you will do
  • Manage safeguard and account for all COMSEC materials cryptographic equipment and keying materialin accordance withNSA DoD and organizational policy.
  • Distribute keying material using approved secure courier procedures and the Electronic Key Management System (EKMS).
  • Configure and maintain secure communication devices including KG250X inline network encryptors KIV7 devices TACLANE encryptors and associated key fill equipment.
  • Conduct quarterly COMSEC audits of equipment inventories keying material accountability records and physical security controls at MacDill AFB and forwarddeployed locations.
  • Investigate COMSEC incidents such as lost fills equipment compromise or key discrepancies; report findings to NSA Central Security Service in accordance with CNSSI 4009.
  • Maintain detailed records in EKMS and local databases to support compliance inspections accreditation and continuous monitoring requirements.
  • Provide training to personnel on COMSEC handling procedures secure device operation proper use of key fill devices and incident reporting protocols.
  • Collaborate with RMF teams to ensure cryptographic and COMSEC controls meet NIST SP 80053 requirements for the protection of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and classified data.
  • Additional duties as assigned or required.
What we are looking for

Level 2: 3 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field;1 yearrelevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 years relevant experience.

Level 3: 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.

Level 4: 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.

  • Experience in COMSEC operations EKMS/Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) and cryptographic equipment maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of NSA COMSEC policies DoDI 8523.01 CNSSI 4009 and applicable DoD/Service-level instructions.
  • Hands-on experience configuring and operating devices such as KG250X TACLANE and KIV7.
  • Strong understanding of keying material handling secure distribution and incident management procedures.
  • Familiarity with Risk Management Framework (RMF) processes and NIST SP 80053 security control requirements.
  • Ability to perform audits maintain accurate accountability records and ensure compliance during inspections.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to provide effective user training.
  • Ability to support operations at main base and travel to forward deployed or remote locations as required.
  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain a Top Secret clearance
Physical Requirements
Minimal mobility dexterity or coordination required to operate business machines. Minimal lifting may be required.
