About Residential Services:
The Residential Services Division consists of a Juvenile Detention Center and two post-adjudicated facilities. The facilities house youth who are awaiting court and youth who are placed into the departments custody by the juvenile courts. The facilities provide direct care and supervision for all youth placed with the department along with providing mental health and behavioral treatment programs.


Position Overview:
The Staff Services III - Driver is responsible for operating the shuttle from the parking lot to the job site. The safety of passengers is the prime responsibility of this position. The driver must gain familiarity with the route. This position is considered an essential position.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Drives county vehicle to operate shuttle service transporting Juvenile Probation employees to and from Juvenile Justice Center and county parking lot.
  • Other duties assigned by a Supervisor.

Requirements

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited educational institution.
  • At least one (1) year transportation/driver experience.

Licensure:

  • Valid Texas drivers license.
    • Safe driving record.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Transport employees in a safe and timely manner and adhere to traffic laws and maintain a good driving record.
  • Should be prompt/adhering to driving schedule.
  • Must be punctual and possess good time management skills.
  • Be courteous and polite to diverse groups; foster teamwork.
  • Project exemplary customer service to staff.
  • Patience is necessary when dealing with heavy traffic and rude riders.
  • Must be 21 years of age.
  • Also requires the ability to demonstrate proficient use of the personal computer and must pass the clerical exam with a score of at least 85%.

Additional Requirements:

  • Upon receiving a conditional job offer all applicants must undergo a criminal background check and drug screening.
  • All employees are subject to random drug and alcohol testing as well as testing based on reasonable suspicion that the employee may be under the influence of a substance prohibited by the countys drug and alcohol policy during the course and scope of employment.
  • In the event of a public emergency declared by the county staff may be assigned to other duties facilities or departments under the supervision of another county department.
  • Applicants must be at least 21 years old.
  • Employees in this position must possess and maintain a valid Texas Drivers license and maintain liability insurance coverage at least equal to the minimum amounts required by law.
  • Certified copies of educational transcripts and/or college credits will be required during the hiring process.
  • This position involves working with challenging youth where the use of crisis intervention and de-escalation strategies may be necessary to ensure the safety of both youth and staff.

  • Position Type and Typical Hours of Work:
    • Grant-funded Full-time Operating one of two eight (8) hour shifts:

    • Typical workdays are Monday - Friday
      • 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM and/or 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
      • Weekends if necessary.
      • Hours may vary based on the business needs of the department.
    Salary:
    • $52374.40 Annually
    • Depends on Qualifications
    • Based on 26 Pay Periods
      • Plus benefits
