Job Summary

OVERVIEW

USCRI seeks a Staff Attorney to serve in the Albany NY field office. The attorney will assist with part of the Office for New Americans Opportunity center and other programs as designated by the Associate Director of Humanitarian Legal Services.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Office for New Americans Opportunity Center

Responsible for overall oversight financial management staff training. and support

Report preparation and submission

Review and preparation of immigration applications

Preparation presentation and community engagement of immigration community workshops


Legal Operations Support

Collect review and analyze legal data reports on a monthly basis

Respond and make referrals for legal inquires received through USCRI Headquarter channels

Create and/or update Humanitarian Legal Services standard operating procedures as necessary

Assist with legal funding development including collaboration on funding proposals


Direct Representation

Provide direct legal representation as needed to support staff transitions and new program-ming.

Representation may include but is not limited to:

o Immigration Court Representation: including Master Calendar Hearings Individual Hear-ings Motions (Motions to Continue Motions to Terminate Motions to Change Venue etc.) Voluntary Departure

o Attendance at USCIS interviews

o Application support including but not limited to: SIJS Asylum T visas U visas VAWA Ad-justment of Status Family-Based immigration Consular Processing TPS EADs

REQUIREMENTS

J.D. from an accredited law school

Active membership in good standing with a state bar association

Minimum 2-3 years of immigration legal experience and/or program management

Excellent legal research writing and editing skills

Strong organizational analytical and project management skills

Demonstrated support for USCRIs values by exhibiting respect for others maintaining confidential information and an appreciation of a multicultural workplace.
