Job Description

Job Summary:

Provide technical leadership and handson support to Production in the manufacturing of complex semicustom infrared imaging systems with a strong emphasis on electrical and systemlevel integration. Take a leading role in the transfer of new products from development to pilot production. Interface with all groups to ensure that new products are introduced on schedule and that production and cost goals are met. Actively participate with Design Engineering in the electrical architecture system integration and test strategy of new products and train Production to manufacture them.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise and leadership in the solution of difficult production product and process problems especially at the system level. Resolution of these problems typically requires knowledge and understanding of electrical (power signal integrity controls electronics) mechanical and optical subsystems and their interactions in the fabrication integration test and operation of finished camera systems.

  • Provide manufacturing support for electrical subsystem integration including cameras sensors power distribution cabling grounding and systemlevel electrical test and troubleshooting.

  • Take a lead role in planning and carrying out successful transitions of new products from development to pilot production and on into full production in accordance with the New Product Introduction process. Identify needs for production resources documentation training tooling fixtures test equipment and lead or coordinate efforts to complete these activities on time and within budget. Play a lead role in make versus buy decisions. Report on progress on a regular basis.

  • Identify and capture opportunities for product process reliability and cost improvements. Conduct testing as appropriate to verify that as-produced product meets customer specifications and requirements in a consistent and reliable manner. Prioritize and lead efforts to implement improvements.

  • Work closely with Design Engineering to ensure that new products can be readily produced customized and tested. Concurrently prepare for transition to pilot production so that transitions can be conducted rapidly and with a minimum of disruption.

  • Play a lead role in design reviews from a Manufacturing Engineering standpoint. Verify that rigorous electrical mechanical and optical tolerance analyses have been conducted over the complete range of product operating conditions. Work with Purchasing to assure that multiple sources are available for all purchased parts.

  • Interact closely with Quality Assurance and Customer Service to analyze failures identify root causes and improve manufacturing processes and product designs accordingly.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Systems Engineering or a related technical discipline required with 8 years of relevant experience; Masters degree preferred.

  • In-depth understanding and hands-on experience in electrical systems system integration and manufacturing support for complex technical products.

  • Experience supporting electrical integration system test or troubleshooting of imaging sensor or electrooptical systems preferred.

  • Experience with infrared or Charge-Coupled Device (CCD) camera systems preferred.

  • Experience with optics mechanical and systems engineering preferred.

  • Experience in leading new product introductions from Engineering to Manufacturing a plus.

Salary Range:

$96600.00-$128800.000

The anticipated salary range listed for this role is only an estimate.
