Job Summary

Sr. Staff Accountant

Location: Pacific MO

Walker Products is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to support the companys accounting and financial reporting activities. This position will play a key role in the monthly close process account reconciliations financial analysis and maintenance of accurate financial records.

The Senior Staff Accountant will work closely with the Controller and other departments to ensure financial information is accurate timely and compliant with company policies and generally accepted accounting principles. The ideal candidate will have strong general accounting knowledge excellent analytical skills and experience working in a manufacturing or distribution environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform general ledger accounting activities including preparing and posting journal entries.
  • Support monthly quarterly and annual financial close processes.
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate outstanding or unusual items.
  • Analyze financial results account activity and variances to identify trends or discrepancies.
  • Assist with the preparation of financial statements management reports and supporting schedules.
  • Maintain fixed asset records including additions disposals transfers and depreciation.
  • Support inventory accounting cycle count reconciliation and analysis of inventory adjustments.
  • Assist with cost accounting activities including manufacturing costs purchase price variances overhead and inventory valuation.
  • Review accounts payable and accounts receivable activity for accuracy and proper account classification.
  • Assist with cash reporting bank reconciliations and other treasury-related accounting activities.
  • Support annual audits by preparing schedules documentation and responses to auditor requests.
  • Assist with tax reporting compliance filings and information requests.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of accounting procedures and internal controls.
  • Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes reporting accuracy and departmental efficiency.
  • Provide accounting guidance and support to other departments.
  • Assist with special projects and additional accounting responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Accounting Finance or a related field required.
  • Five or more years of progressive accounting experience preferred.
  • Strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Experience with general ledger accounting financial reporting account reconciliations and month-end close.
  • Manufacturing distribution inventory or cost accounting experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with an ERP system required; Epicor experience is a plus.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel including pivot tables lookups formulas and data analysis.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with accounting and operational teams.
  • CPA or CMA certification or progress toward certification is preferred but not required.
