About the Opportunity
The Antibiotic Discovery Center (ADC) at Northeastern University is seeking a highly motivated Senior Research Technician to support the development and implementation of a target-based screening platform for antibiotic discovery assist in downstream hit validation and compound isolation and contribute to overall laboratory operations in a collaborative research environment.
- Contribute to development of a novel microfluidics-based high-throughput screening platform
- Execute biochemical and microbiological assays to identify and validate antibacterial targets.
- Support high-throughput and focused screening efforts including assay development optimization and data analysis.
- Participate in hit triage secondary assays and compound characterization including natural product isolation and structureactivity studies.
- Operate and maintain equipment supporting screening and compound purification (e.g. LC HPLC plate readers microfluidics sorters).
- Manage lab inventories supplies and safety compliance; coordinate maintenance and calibration of shared instruments.
- Contribute to protocol development data management and preparation of reports and presentations.
- Provide training and technical support to students and new lab members.
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Microbiology Biochemistry Chemistry Molecular Biology or a related field.
- Minimum 23 years of hands-on research experience in an academic or industrial setting.
- Technical expertise in molecular cloning bacterial culture and biochemical or enzymatic assays.
- Experience with natural product extraction chromatographic purification or analytical instrumentation (e.g. LC-MS) is strongly preferred.
- Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multitask in a dynamic research environment.
