Amazon Web Services Networking is searching for hands-on Senior Network Development Engineer to join our network team that owns critical Amazon Web Services IP networks for our public sector regions. The team drives design engineering implementation operations reliability and sustainability of these next-generation networks and works on innovative ways to automate and scale our network as we expand.

Our ideal candidate is hands-on autonomous detail oriented possesses strong written and verbal communication skills strong project management and time management skills and has a successful track record of engineering delivering and optimizing durable solutions. Key Job Responsibilities
As a Senior Network Development Engineer in AWS Networking you will own our current and newly developing IP networks end to end from design and engineering through implementation operations escalation scaling technology refresh and technical documentation.
Lead the design of highly available hyper-scale networks services and deployment procedures and work with internal customers to take them from concept to production and beyond.
Design ahead of customer and technology needs. This includes writing and defending High Level Design (HLD) and Low Level Design (LLD) documents building and testing solutions and supporting the teams that deploy and operate them.
Define and influence strategy and technology roadmaps within and outside the team.
Work with leadership to choose projects that support the teams mission and lead the project teams that deliver them.
Partner with network engineers and software developers to automate deployment and operations improving quality and velocity.
Drive operational excellence projects that improve network performance and reliability.
Troubleshoot complex problems and review and implement changes on the network.
Hire mentor and coach engineers.
Physical and Other Requirements
Willing to support an off-hours operations escalation pager rotation.
Experience working with customers during problem resolution and working well under pressure.
Able to sit at a computer during scheduled work hours with appropriate breaks while staying alert and paying close attention to detail.
Able to travel to data center and network sites and to Amazon and customer offices as needed.


The candidate selected must obtain and maintain a security clearance at the TS/SCI with polygraph level. Upon start the selected candidate will be sponsored for a commensurate clearance for each government agency for which they perform AWS work.

- Associates degree or CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) or CFR (CyberSec First Responder) or Cloud or GICSP (Global Industrial Cyber Security Professional) or SSCP (Systems Security Certified Practitioner)
- 8 years of major internet routing protocols experience
- 5 years of working in a Linux/Unix environment experience
- 3 years of automation scripting using Python Bash Shell and/or Perl experience
- Experience in IP networking technologies such as - BGP OSPF IS-IS MPLS TCP SLB network hardware platforms and packet forwarding architectures.
- Network design engineering implementation and/or operations experience.
- Experience leading solutioning planning engineering growth operations and/or enhancement of industry leading IP network solutions.

- Ability to lead and deliver complex network projects and drive operational excellence.
- Proficiency in developing network automation software.
- Ability to drive and manage customer impacting network events.
- Ability to work in a fast paced and collaborative environment.
- Ability to deal with ambiguity prioritize and time manage effectively.

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
