Job Summary
Details:
Were looking for a Senior Microgrid Solutions Engineer to lead the modeling and design of microgrid solutions for our customers. This role will translate customer load data site constraints and resilience goals into right-sized cost-effective systems incorporating natural gas generators fuel cells linear generators solar and BESS. You will lead and mentor a team of Application Engineers while supporting Sales and Project Development throughout the opportunity and proposal process. As our microgrid business grows you will help establish engineering best practices and ensure solutions are technically sound commercially viable and aligned with customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities
- Model and size microgrids in HOMER Pro XENDEE or similar tools using interval load data tariffs fuel prices and resilience requirements to select the right mix of gas generation fuel cells linear generators solar and BESS.
- Define microgrid operating modes (grid-parallel islanded black start redundancy) and dispatch strategies such as peak shaving demand charge management and prime power.
- Assess site constraints gas supply interconnection service/transformer capacity footprint etc and develop preliminary SLDs and 10% design packages for engineering handoff.
- Evaluate and compare dispatchable generation technologies on efficiency and heat rate part-load performance ramp rate and block-load/transient response emissions and air permitting fuel flexibility (natural gas RNG hydrogen blends) maintenance intervals availability and lifecycle cost and recommend the right technology mix for each customer.
- Build equipment-level BOM and pricing and support project development team with project economics (ROI LCOE PPA/energy-as-a-service options) for customer proposals and RFP responses.
- Support fast-track solutions for data centers and other mission-critical facilities where capacity and timeline drive design decisions.
Leadership & Training
- Mentor junior engineers review their models and designs and help build modeling templates and proposal playbooks.
- Train Sales and Project Development teams on microgrid fundamentals generation technologies and how to qualify opportunities.

- Bachelors in Electrical Mechanical or Energy Systems Engineering or related field.
- 3 years in microgrid distributed generation or onsite power application engineering or techno-commercial proposal development.
- Proficient in HOMER Pro and/or XENDEE; experience with Energy Toolbase or similar tools.
- Hands-on experience sizing and integrating gas generators fuel cells and/or linear generators with BESS.
- Working knowledge of microgrid controls interconnection standards NEC and UL requirements.
- Experience building equipment-level cost estimates and financial models for customer proposals.
Preferred Qualifications
- Data center or other mission-critical/high-load facility experience.
- Familiarity with CHP RNG/hydrogen-ready fuels and air permitting for onsite generation.
- Experience building equipment-level cost estimates and financial models for customer proposals.
