Were looking for a Senior Manager Communications to lead strategic market intelligence and narrative efforts that strengthen T-Mobiles reputation and reinforce our leadership across wireless broadband technology and customer experience.

This role sits at the intersection of communications strategy market intelligence media relations and storytelling. The successful candidate will monitor industry developments market activity and emerging trends translating complex information into communications strategies that advance business priorities and reinforce T-Mobiles position as an industry leader.

This is not a traditional PR role. Success requires equal parts strategist storyteller analyst and operator. Youll connect dots others dont see identify opportunities before they become obvious and help shape conversations around some of the most important topics affecting our industry. You wont simply react to whats happening around you youll anticipate whats next.

This role operates across two speeds building long-term narrative strategies while staying ready to move quickly when the moment calls for it from months-long communications programs to same-day responses to breaking industry developments. Youll partner closely with teams across Communications Marketing Social Social Insights Product Network Legal Government Affairs Care and executive leadership to uncover insights develop narratives create compelling stories and ensure T-Mobiles voice is present in the moments and conversations that matter most.

This is a hybrid role requiring a minimum of three days per week in the office consistent with company policy. This position may be located in Bellevue WA.

This role sits within T-Mobiles Corporate Communication Reputation and Public Affairs team and will be part of an on-call team so some work outside standard business hours may be required. While the majority of work occurs during normal business hours flexibility supports a team that operates in a fast-moving always-on environment.

Responsibilities:

Market Intelligence & Strategic Insights
  • Monitor industry trends market developments customer issues regulatory activity technology innovation and other external factors that may create communications opportunities or risks.
  • Translate complex developments into actionable insights recommendations executive briefings and communications strategies.
  • Develop and maintain reporting dashboards trackers and intelligence products that inform communications planning and decision-making.
  • Identify emerging themes narratives and opportunities before they become widely recognized.
Strategic Narrative Development
  • Develop messaging frameworks and narrative strategies that reinforce T-Mobiles leadership differentiation innovation and customer-first approach.
  • Identify opportunities to shape industry conversations and reframe narratives in ways that highlight T-Mobiles strengths and perspective.
  • Develop counter-narrative strategies that address misinformation correct the record and ensure accurate information reaches key audiences.
  • Partner across the organization to ensure communications efforts are aligned consistent and impactful.
  • Create compelling messaging that simplifies complex topics and resonates with diverse audiences.
Rapid Storytelling & Media Influence
  • Lead proactive communications initiatives tied to industry developments market trends research and emerging news.
  • Develop story packages executive messaging thought leadership content talking points presentations media materials and other communications assets.
  • Identify opportunities to elevate T-Mobiles perspective through earned media executive visibility industry conversations and third-party engagement.
  • Develop and execute creative campaign-style communications programs that generate attention shape narratives and drive earned coverage from concept through execution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with reporters analysts influencers and other external stakeholders.
Strategic Influence & External Engagement
  • Build and maintain strong relationships across media industry analyst policy and influencer communities.
  • Identify opportunities to elevate credible external perspectives and foster informed conversations around issues important to customers and the industry.
  • Provide strategic counsel on complex or sensitive external engagements helping ensure key audiences have the context needed to understand evolving issues and developments.
  • Develop creative approaches that increase visibility for important company priorities and strengthen understanding of T-Mobiles perspective in the marketplace.
  • Anticipate emerging conversations and identify opportunities to engage early thoughtfully and effectively.
Enterprise Partnership & Strategic Counsel
  • Serve as a trusted communications advisor to leaders across the business.
  • Partner closely with Marketing Product Network Legal Government Affairs and other teams to align communications strategies with business priorities.
  • Manage agency partners and external resources supporting strategic communications initiatives.
  • Partner closely with Social and Social Insights teams to connect real-time platform signals audience sentiment and trending conversations to communications strategy and narrative development.
  • Support executive preparedness through strategic guidance briefing materials and communications planning.
Team Development & Agency Resources
  • Build and develop a high-performing team as the function grows fostering a culture of curiosity speed and strategic rigor.
  • Lead and manage extensive agency partnerships across intelligence research creative and strategic communications setting direction managing performance and ensuring resources are deployed effectively.
Measurement & Continuous Improvement
  • Establish goals KPIs and reporting frameworks to measure the impact of communications programs.
  • Evaluate industry trends campaign performance and emerging opportunities to continuously improve strategy and execution.
  • Identify and implement new tools technologies and best practices that strengthen communications effectiveness.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 7-10 years of experience in communications public relations journalism public affairs marketing communications or a related field.
  • Experience building developing and leading a communications team and agency partners required.
  • Demonstrated success developing and executing strategic communications programs in a fast-paced corporate environment agency newsroom or public affairs organization.
  • Deep understanding of the media and influencer landscape including reporter beats coverage preferences and what drives story interest across national business trade and digital outlets.
  • Experience with third-party advocacy strategy engagement and direct and indirect influence programs that advance a communications objective through credible external voices.
  • Exceptional writing editing messaging and storytelling skills.
  • Experience translating complex business technology regulatory or industry topics into compelling communications strategies.
  • Demonstrated executive presence and a track record of advising and influencing senior leaders including during high-pressure situations requiring rapid judgment and clear confident counsel.
  • Experience managing cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders across large organizations.
  • Telecommunications technology media consumer technology or related industry experience preferred.

  • Understands how narratives are formed how they spread and how they evolve across traditional media digital platforms policymakers influencers analysts and consumers.
  • Can quickly assess complex situations and develop thoughtful recommendations often with incomplete information and under tight deadlines.
  • Equal parts strategist and operator -- comfortable developing a long-term approach while also executing in the moment.
  • Understands that every conversation matters -- whether engaging a reporter analyst executive partner or stakeholder knows how relationships are built and how trust is earned over time.

Total Target Cash Earnings Opportunity: $138120 - $249120

National Base Pay Range: $115100 - $207600

The Total Target Cash Earnings Opportunity represents the expected total cash compensation for this role at target performance combining base salary and annual incentive opportunity. Actual earnings may be higher or lower depending on individual performance and overall company results.

The base pay range reflects the compensation component of this opportunity. The candidates actual pay will be based on various factors such as work location qualifications and experience so the actual starting pay will vary within this range. To find the pay range for this role based on hiring location T-Mobile employees in regular non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus based on their role. Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on individual and/or company performance and which is set at a percentage of the employees eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance. The incentive component included in the Total Target Cash Earnings Opportunity reflects target performance. Actual earnings included in the Total Target Cash Earnings Opportunity reflect target performance; actual payouts may vary.
