NYE also serves as a leading Community-Based Organization (CBO) in the NYC Community Schools initiative partnering with school leadership to coordinate integrated supports such as expanded learning family engagement and wellness services to ensure students and families have access to comprehensive school-based resources.

Position Summary
New York Edge is seeking an experienced mission-driven leader to serve as aSr. Leadership & SEL Coachwithin the Leadership & SEL Department. The Sr. Coach oversees one of five borough portfolios providing leadership supervision and support to Jr. Leadership & SEL Coaches while ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality social-emotional learning (SEL) mental health restorative justice and leadership programming across multiple afterschool sites.
Working closely with the Director of Leadership & SEL the Sr. Coach supervises and develops Jr. Coaches oversees mental health and SEL referral processes monitors program quality and ensures the effective implementation of assessments curriculum and restorative practices. The Sr. Coach participates in ongoing professional development and maintains required certifications to support high-quality student-centered programming.
Duties & Responsibilities
Portfolio Leadership & Supervision
Oversee the implementation of all mental health SEL and leadership supports across every site in the assigned borough portfolio.
Directly supervise coach and evaluate the Jr. Leadership & SEL Coaches assigned to the portfolio ensuring each coach is supported.
Serve as the primary point of escalation for complex student family or site-level concerns within the portfolio.
Mental Health & Referral Oversight
Oversee the external SEL and mental health referral process across the portfolio ensuring students and families are connected to appropriate individual therapy group therapy counseling and family resources.
Partner with certified clinicians and external providers including The Home for Little Wanderers to monitor referrals and support timely confidential follow-through.
Assessment Curriculum & Quality
Ensure SEL pre- and post-assessments are administered accurately and on schedule at every site in the portfolio in partnership with the SEL Data Specialists.
Oversee faithful implementation of leadership and SEL curriculum and restorative justice practices across all assigned sites.
Collaboration & Professional Development
Collaborate with program directors teachers school staff and community partners to embed SEL and leadership practice into the afterschool day.
Participate in and where appropriate help facilitate year-round professional development peer coaching reflective practice and group work.
Qualifications
MSW BSSW or a degree in School Counseling required.
Experience working in school-based or school-aligned settings is required.
Demonstrated supervisory or team leadership experience ideally overseeing youth development staff.
Proven success supporting students with academic social and emotional challenges including those with special needs and those from high poverty backgrounds.
Strong understanding of child development behavior and trauma-informed practice.
Knowledge of mental health referral pathways and the ability to coordinate services across providers.
Strong technology and data management skills including Microsoft Office Suite Google Workspace Salesforce and database systems.
Excellent organizational communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage a multi-site portfolio in a fast-paced environment.

Required Training & Certifications
All Leadership & SEL Coaches including Sr. Coaches must complete the following within 6 months of the start of their role as a condition of the role:
