Job Summary

Sr. Help desk Technician

FedTec is seeking a highly skilled Sr. Help desk Technician to provide Tier I & II support for the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) in Silver Spring MD. This role supports end-users by resolving hardware software and application issues across a diverse IT infrastructure including Windows Active Directory mobile devices and virtual private networks. The technician will ensure continuity of IT services and maintain the highest standards of customer support as part of a multidisciplinary biomedical research environment.

Location: Silver Spring MD

Security Clearance: Must have a verifiable DoD Secret or Higher Clearance

Certifications: Must have verifiable CompTIA Security

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as the first point of contact for end-users seeking IT support via phone email or in person.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents related to hardware software peripheral devices and network connectivity.
  • Utilize the Global Service Center ticketing system to track document and resolve issues.
  • Provide frequent updates to customers on ticket status and follow-up upon resolution to ensure satisfaction.
  • Assist with installing and configuring desktop systems and peripheral equipment.
  • Support remote users and mobile device configurations (Blackberry iPhone).
  • Perform system imaging data backup and restore services prior to system repair.
  • Apply DISA STIGs for printer and multifunction device configuration.
  • Provide answers to frequently asked questions and contribute to the IT knowledgebase.
  • Collaborate with network systems and cybersecurity teams to resolve complex issues.
  • Participate in periodic review and reporting of Help Desk metrics and trends.
  • Provide printer scanner and peripheral support including hardware repair recommendations.

Basic Qualifications Required Education Certifications Skills and Experience

  • Certifications: Verifiable CompTIA Security is required
  • Education/Experience Requirement:
    • Associates Degree in Information Technology or related field
    • Minimum 5 years of IT Support experience in a Tier I or Tier II role; or
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows OS Active Directory and common desktop applications.
  • Experience with mobile device setup and troubleshooting (Blackberry iPhone).
  • Understanding of network and VPN basics.
  • Proficient in the use of remote desktop and remote management organization and time management skills with ability to handle multiple priorities
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to assess business requirements
  • Ability to collaborate with others for the timely achievement of designated goals and accomplishments
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Detail-oriented with ability to proactively identify problems and effectively respond
  • Ability to use discretion concerning highly sensitive and confidential data and information
  • Ability to effectively work individually or in a team environment
  • Minimum Citizenship Status Requirements: US Citizen
