Job Summary
The sky is no longer the limit as Nidec takes its technology off the ground and into the Aerospace market. As a Mechanical Design Engineer with the Nidec Aerospace team you will have the opportunity to apply and develop your expertise to design electric propulsion systems for the battery-powered aircraft that will enable the world to sustainably and efficiently get from point A to point B.Nidec is the worlds leading electric motor manufacturer and a true pioneer in electrification across a wide array of industries since its foundation in 1973 ranging from appliance energy infrastructure to ground transportation. Nidec Aerospace is a newly created Joint Venture between Nidec and Embraer which intends to take a leading role in the Electrification of Aircrafts. From ideation to production you will work with a diverse and experienced team of design engineers to support aerospace industry leaders and spearhead technological advances in transport decarbonization.
Job Description
Responsibilities include:
Lead the design of Complex Electronic Control Hardwareincluding ProcessorsFPGAsand other devices to achievehigh performhigh-performanceancemotor control capabilities.
Capture of HW requirements to fulfill equipment and systemspecificathardwarehigh-speedion.
Design of electronic circuits for aerospaceapplicationsbased on HW requirements.
Selectionof electronic devices.
Capture of electronic schematics and design of PCB layouts.
Simulation and validation of electroniccircuitsdesign.
Management of PCBs BOM (bill of material) and support of devices procurement.
Support circuit board assemblies prototyping.
Performprototypescommissioning.
Use of ARP4754A DO254 and other aerospace standards for the development of circuitboardsassembly (CBA).
Support the system engineering and equipment engineering in the system/equipment architecture definitions.
Work with the equipment team softwareteamand other hardware engineers during the design and integration of the circuits into the equipment.
Run tests for formal verification of electronic hardware.
Perform reliability analysis for the designed hardware.
Write analysis reports and test reports.
Manage problem reports.
Perform root cause analysis and design changes.
RequiredKnowledge& Skills:
Experience on Board designs withProcessorsDSPsand/or Programmable Devices (FPGAs PLDs)
Experiencedesigning Hardware forhigh speed andhigh-performancedata acquisition and signal processing
Expertisein Hardware solutions fordigitalcommunication suchA429 RS-485 CANSPI I2C Ethernet etc.
Expertisein Fault Tolerant designs (DAL A or ASIL D designs) Redundancy Monitoring Protectionstrategies.
Experience with motor control driversand control methods
Experience with requirements-based development and phase-gate processes.
Experience in design of electronic circuitsusing Altium
Experience indesign ofcircuit boards.
Experience incapture ofHW requirements and requirements validation.
Experience in verification ofelectronic hardware.
Experience in reliability analysis of electronic circuits.
Willingness to work with and travel to domestic and international design and manufacturing locations when necessary.

MinimumRequirements
Bachelors or Masters or PhDs degree in Electrical / Electronic Engineering
15 years of experience in electronic circuits design
Experience in electronic equipment developmentfor automotiveaerospaceor equivalent high criticality industrial applications (nuclear railway etc.)
Experience withAltiumSpice
Preferred
Experience indevelopmentoffault-tolerantelectroniccontrol boardsfor aerospace.
Experience with ARP4754A and DO-254 process.
Experience indesign ofmotor drivers (inverters) and high voltage equipment.
