Job Summary
Job Title - Sr. Electrical Engineer
Job location - Jersey City NJ* Hybrid (04 days onsite and 01-day remote work)
Engagement duration - 2 years minimum
Start date- June 2026
Work Schedule: 8 hours/day
Pay rate: $50-$60/hr
Candidates must present the following qualifications to be considered eligible for this position:
- Bachelors degree in electrical engineering from an ABET accredited engineering college or university.
- Proficient in AutoCAD software application. Experience with REVIT/BIM is preferred.
- At least seven (7) years of experience providing electrical design services for the types of systems and tasks listed below:
- Power distribution systems including the development of one-line riser control wiring and interconnection diagrams.
- Emergency power systems design including UPS and generator design.
- Grounding systems
- Fire alarm systems design.
- Lighting design for industrial commercial and roadway lighting application
- Review and analysis of existing service and distribution capacities and demand and available capacity constraints for future work.
- Experience in performing and reviewing electrical calculations including but not limited to:
- Equipment sizing
- Load studies
- Short circuit coordination and arc flash studies
- Voltage drop ampacity cable and conduit sizing
- Medium voltage systems:
- Medium voltage substation design
- Protection and control
- Key interlock systems
- Grounding and testing

- Medium voltage infrastructure including ductbanks manholes systems cables and splices.
- Utility coordination including new and upgraded service requests for PSE&G and Con Edison including experience with EO-2022 design and filing requirements.
- Experience preparing contract documents specifications reports and estimates
- Valid drivers license.
- Proficient communication skills and use of common software applications like Word Excel and Outlook.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Selected candidates shall represent the electrical design group under the direction and supervision of a Principal Electrical Engineer. Primarily the selected candidates will provide conceptual and final design for a variety of projects at the Authoritys facilities. Typically these can include the rehab or upgrade of existing electrical equipment construction or rehab of new buildings or facilities civil paving projects construction of new substations installation of EV charging etc.
- Consultant staff shall represent Electrical Design on developing various stages of design from planning through construction working closely with supervisors other design disciplines and other Engineering divisions.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Provide engineering design services conforming to applicable codes and standards.
- Develop studies and reports for various stages of work I IV (conceptual preliminary final and construction stages).
- Prepare technical specifications and construction cost estimates.
- Produce biddable and constructable contract drawings in AutoCad or REVIT
- Coordinate with all other Engineering disciplines Project Principals Materials Construction Management Engineering Project Delivery and Consultants to produce well-coordinated deliverables.
- Audit design and contract document submittals from developers design builders tenants or others doing work on the Authoritys facilities.
- Review submittals and answer RFIs during Stage IV construction.
Experience in:
- Lighting control and monitoring.
- Conversion of HID lighting or other legacy systems to LED
- Building Automation Management and Control systems (BAMCS) and SCADA.
- Runway and taxiway electrical systems design.
- Lightning protection systems
- Electric Vehicle charging
- Solar installations on roofs or on canopies
