WROC-TV/Rochester First streaming/ in Rochester New York is hiring a SportsContent Creatorwho is apresenter/producer of digital sports contentfor all platforms in a manner that is clear engaging and meaningful toallconsumers. The SportsContent Creatoranalyzes and presents facts about sports events by interview investigation or observation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produces and presents sports reports for all platforms

  • Creates programs and long form content appropriate for streaming channels and platforms

  • Ensures that all sports content meets company standards for journalistic integrity and production quality

  • Writes and delivers sports stories in a clear and concise manner

  • Participates in and originates interview and discussion sports content for streaming platforms

  • Regularly posts content to various social media platforms

  • Generates original story ideas for traditional and non-traditional sports topics

  • Operates and maintains podcast broadcast equipment

  • Connects with various local and national sports figures for interview and discussion content

  • Assists in writing copy editing researching and coordinating sports programming and other content

  • Responds to breaking sports events and other urgent newsrooms situations as required

  • Works closely with the sports team to develop comprehensive sports coverage

  • Participates in promotional activities including public appearances

  • Performs special projects and other duties as assigned

  • Shoots video for sports reports

  • Sets up composes and executes video contentfor live recorded and social items

  • Maintains video equipment

  • Edits video clips forsocial platforms website streaming and television broadcasts

  • Writes stories for thesocial platforms website streaming and television broadcasts

  • Interacts with viewers and users on social media sites

Requirements & Skills:

  • Bachelors degree in Broadcast Journalism or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and work-related experience

  • Superior on-air presence

  • Minimum three years experience in sports reporting and anchoring (more or less depending on market size)

  • Fluency in English

  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written with the ability to ad lib when required

  • Experience with posting and editing content to all social media platforms

  • Experience guiding directing and motivating others

  • Ability to identify the developmental needs of others and to coach mentor or otherwise help others to improve their knowledge or skills

  • Proficiency with computers telephones copiers scanners and other office equipment

  • Ability to meet deadlines prioritize assignments and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Ability to effectively listen to fully understand problems and communicate with a team to shape a solution

  • Valid drivers license with a good driving record

  • Flexibility to work any shift

Compensation $16.50 - $18 / hour commensurate with applicants experience and skill level.
