The inpatient speech-language pathology department at Methodist Hospital focuses on immediate assessment and intervention for communication cognitive and swallowing disorders to facilitate safe discharge and optimize recovery during a patients acute hospital stay.
Founded in 1973 Dignity Health - Methodist Hospital is a 158-bed acute care nonprofit hospital located in Sacramento California. Serving over 80000 patients annually the hospital offers a full complement of services including a Level II NICU heart care cancer care womens health and neurology. As our Speech Language Pathologist you will be a vital clinician expertly assessing diagnosing and treating communication and swallowing disorders to significantly improve patient quality of life.
Every day you will conduct comprehensive evaluations for all referred patients meticulously implementing individualized treatment plans. Youll contribute clinical expertise to develop/upgrade treatment programs/protocols and actively shape departmental and organizational goals.
To be successful in this role you will possess advanced clinical knowledge exceptional diagnostic/therapeutic skills and a compassionate patient-centered approach.
- Complete patient evaluations within 24 - 48 hours according to department protocol setting appropriate and relevant goals.
- Implement effective and adequate treatment plans modifying goals and interventions as appropriate while ensuring patient safety.
- Provide comprehensive patient and family education utilizing various teaching methods suitable for their level of understanding.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation adhering to department policies for concise legible records that reflect all interventions and assessments.
- Previous experience as a speech pathologist.
