Job Summary
MiSTEM Network Region Director
The MiSTEM Network Region Director is a full-time executive leadership position responsible for directing and leading the work of a regional MiSTEM Network within the State of Michigan. The Director serves as the voice of the region at the state level builds collaborative partnerships aligns regional activities with statewide STEM strategies and advances initiatives that support STEM education and workforce development. This position requires strong leadership strategic thinking collaboration skills and a commitment to advancing inclusive STEM opportunities and statewide goals.
Duties and Responsibilities
Regional Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
- Convene and connect state regional education business industry and community stakeholders.
- Lead the development of regional strategies aligned with statewide STEM vision and goals.
- Represent the region in statewide MiSTEM initiatives and discussions.
Strategic Planning and Program Development
- Facilitate creation and development of regional collaborations supporting statewide STEM priorities.
- Pursue develop and lead programs that advance regional and statewide STEM goals.
- Identify innovative systems and experiences that connect STEM employers with educational partners.
Grant Development and Resource Management
- Initiate implement and pursue state and federal grant-funded STEM initiatives.
- Identify and coordinate resources that support STEM stakeholders and regional activities.
- Manage budgets and ensure compliance with grant requirements.
Advisory Board Development
- Establish convene and support a MiSTEM Region Advisory Board.
- Ensure equitable stakeholder representation and engagement.
- Guide advisory board efforts toward regional implementation of statewide STEM strategies.
Data Analysis and Reporting
- Gather generate and oversee analysis of relevant needs and impact data.
- Evaluate STEM education and talent pathway outcomes.
- Report progress and outcomes to stakeholders and funding entities.
Team Leadership and Government Relations
- Supervise staff and project teams.
- Work with policymakers and government representatives on STEM-related initiatives.
- Promote a common and inclusive understanding of STEM across the region.

Professional Misconduct Review
A professional misconduct review is a prerequisite for a candidate to be selected for this position. Applicants will be asked to disclose whether they are subject to any pending investigation findings or sanctions related to professional misconduct. Professional misconduct includes misconduct related to a persons employment including but not limited to theft embezzlement research integrity discrimination or harassment under civil rights laws and policies including protected identity harassment sexual harassment sexual misconduct (sexual assault sexual exploitation dating violence domestic violence stalking etc.) and retaliation. All applicants will be asked to sign an authorization and release which authorizes the University to contact the candidates current and former employers for a period of 7 years prior to the date of application related to any pending investigations findings of responsibility and/or sanctions related to professional misconduct. Nothing will be sent to current or former employers unless the candidate reaches the semi-finalist stage. The existence of professional misconduct history does not automatically exclude a candidate from employment. The University will assess the history including any information provided by the candidate in determining whether it is compatible with the position. The University may decline to hire a candidate based on the professional misconduct review. All records obtained from external employers will be kept in a secure location separate from personnel files. If an applicant fails to sign the authorization and release the application will be deemed incomplete and will be withdrawn.

Masters -Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics
Doctorate -Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics
- Masters degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics
- At least 7 years of relevant STEM business or industry experience
- Doctorate degree in Science Technology Engineering or Mathematics
- A minimum of 10 years experience working with STEM educational programming
- Community engagement and community-building experience
- Experience bridging education business industry philanthropy and community organizations
- Experience developing and managing networks toward shared goals
- Experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders
