Position Summary

Shine On Academy at Aces for Autism is seeking a dedicated experienced and compassionate Special Education Teacher to lead and oversee academic instruction for students with diverse learning needs including autism spectrum disorder.

The Special Education Teacher will be responsible for coordinating and implementing individualized academic instruction for students placed at Shine On Academy through local school district Individualized Education Program (IEP) teams. This position will also oversee the academys tutoring program ensuring students receive high-quality individualized academic support.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in special education experience working with students with autism and the ability to collaborate effectively with families school districts and multidisciplinary teams.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Instruction and Oversight

* Lead and oversee daily academic programming for students enrolled at Shine On Academy.
* Develop and implement individualized instructional plans aligned with each students IEP academic abilities and educational goals.
* Provide direct instruction in core academic subjects including reading writing mathematics and other appropriate curriculum areas.
* Adapt instructional materials and teaching strategies to accommodate individual learning styles and developmental needs.
* Monitor student progress through assessments data collection and ongoing evaluation.
* Maintain an engaging structured and supportive classroom environment.

IEP Implementation and School District Collaboration

* Oversee the educational programming of students placed at Shine On Academy through local school district IEP teams.
* Ensure academic instruction and educational services are delivered in accordance with each students IEP.
* Collaborate with local school districts EC coordinators IEP teams and families regarding student progress and educational needs.
* Participate in IEP meetings progress reviews and educational planning as appropriate.
* Maintain accurate documentation of academic progress instructional services and IEP goal implementation.
* Support student transitions between Shine On Academy and traditional school settings when appropriate.

Tutoring Program Oversight

* Coordinate and oversee Shine On Academys individualized tutoring program.
* Assess students academic strengths challenges and areas requiring additional support.
* Develop individualized tutoring plans designed to improve academic performance and confidence.
* Provide direct tutoring and supervise instructional support personnel as needed.
* Monitor tutoring effectiveness and communicate student progress to families.
* Assist in expanding and strengthening the tutoring program to meet community needs.

Collaboration and Program Development

* Work collaboratively with Aces for Autism leadership Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs) therapists and other professionals to support student success.
* Provide guidance and support to instructional assistants and other educational personnel.
* Help develop and improve academic programming instructional resources and educational practices.
* Maintain positive communication with parents caregivers and school district representatives.
* Promote an educational environment that emphasizes student achievement independence inclusion and personal growth.

Qualifications

Required

* Bachelors degree in Special Education Education or a closely related field.
* North Carolina teaching license in Exceptional Children (EC) or eligibility for appropriate NC licensure.
* Experience developing implementing and monitoring Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
* Strong understanding of differentiated instruction academic assessments and special education practices.
* Excellent communication organizational and collaboration skills.

Preferred

* Experience teaching students with autism spectrum disorder.
* Experience working with students placed in alternative educational settings.
* Experience collaborating with public school district EC departments and IEP teams.
* Experience supervising instructional assistants or tutoring programs.
* Knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies and positive behavioral supports.

Salary Range $60000- $75000 based on experience
