Job Summary
The Special Education Teacher/Wilson Instructor provides specialized reading instruction using the Wilson Reading System to school-age students who require structured literacy intervention. The primary responsibility of this position is to assess student reading needs plan and deliver Wilson Reading System instruction monitor student progress maintain required documentation and collaborate with families school personnel and multidisciplinary educational teams to support student achievement.
This position requires a valid Pennsylvania Special Education teaching certificate and Wilson Reading System certification. Wilson certification is required to provide Wilson Reading System instruction. The employee must also hold a Pennsylvania Special Education certificate so that if there is insufficient Wilson demand to constitute a full assignment the employee can be assigned Special Education Teacher duties. This position is not eligible for remote work telecommuting or off-site work arrangements.

- Regular attendance and reliable on-site presence.
- Provide Wilson Reading System instruction to eligible students through individual and/or small-group instruction.
- Assess student reading skills and instructional needs using appropriate diagnostic and progress-monitoring data.
- Plan prepare and deliver differentiated Wilson Reading System instruction based on student needs and instructional goals.
- Monitor document and analyze student progress and adjust instruction based on student performance.
- Maintain accurate and timely student instructional records progress-monitoring data attendance and other required documentation.
- Communicate and collaborate regularly and professionally with students families school personnel and multidisciplinary team members regarding student needs instructional programming progress and strategies to support student success.
Thisposition does not include direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance support and collaboration with colleagues and team members as needed to support departmental and organizational goals.
This position requires regular onsite presence and includes a combination of sedentary and active physical duties. Employeesare regularly required tosit communicate effectively use hands for fine motor tasks and move throughout the work environment. Frequent activities may include walking standing reaching bending kneeling crouching and positioning at student level for extended periods of time. Depending on assignment and student needs employees may alsobe requiredtoassistwith transitions mobility support and instructional or daily living activities.
The employee must be able to lifet up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds assignments may requireassistingstudents with mobility or physical support needs that exceed 25 pounds withappropriate trainingand support providedin accordance withprogram expectations and safety procedures.
This position requires active supervision of students across various educational settings and the ability to respond appropriately and efficiently tostudents classroom or safety needs. Responsibilities may include implementing approved crisis intervention techniques supporting students with diverse educational behavioral communication and personal care needs andmaintaininga safe and supportive learning environment. Employees may work in environments with elevated noise levels and varying behavioral or emotional support needs.
Specific vision abilitiesrequiredfor this position include close vision distance vision color vision peripheral vision depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. Employees must also be able to hear and interpret sounds within the environment including student communication alarms and other potential safety concerns.

This is afull-time193-day calendar position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday. Hours of work are from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Hours are dependent on the needs of the evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
Travel is required for this position and may include travel to Bucks IU locations client sites constituent school districts community agencies professional conferences trainings state and regional meetings and other program-related activities. Travel requirements vary based on operational and program needs.

- Bachelors degree from four-year college or university required.
- Pennsylvania Certificate in Special Education required.
- Valid Wilson Reading System certificate required.
- Valid Pennsylvania Reading Specialist Certificate preferred.
- Experience in Special Education and working with young children preferred.
- Basic computer skills including but not limited to word excel and outlook.
Citizenship or work authorization to work in the United States required.
