Folsom Cordova Unified School DistrictPosition ClassificationTEACHER V SPECIAL DAY CLASSDefinition:The Special Day Class teacher works under the direction of the principal and the coordinator of the Special Services Department. The primary function is to reduce the learning disability of Special Day Class students so that they can function effectively when they return to the regular classroom instructional :CredentialLearning HandicappedTypical Duties and Responsibilities:ľGather all information available on the individual student.ľAdminister and interpret diagnostic tests.ľOrganize and interpret student information drawing inferences regarding strengths weaknesses and potential.ľConduct an individual plan of instruction for each child from established long-range goals and short-term objectives.ľDirect the activities of teacher aides.ľCommunicate with regular classroom teachers to provide for smooth transition of students back into the regular program.ľAssess pupil achievement; communicate such assessment to parents the principal and the coordinator.ľEstablish and maintain a system of record keeping that will best facilitate the learning process.ľWork cooperatively with special service personnel in conducting the program.ľAttend and participate in the in-service programs developed and presented for areas useful to the Special Day Class Approved: 8/15/1972

Diverse individuals are encouraged to Requirements: California Education Specialist Teaching Credential with one of the following authorizations:- Mild/Moderate with Autism Spectrum Disorders- Mild to Moderate Support Needs- Moderate/Severe- Extensive Support Needs New credential program graduates may be considered with an attached letter from the program stating program requirements have been met and date of completion. Employment is conditional upon satisfaction set forth below:-DOJ Clearance /Background Check-AB 2534 Egregious Misconduct Check-TB Clearance-Valid CA Drivers License-Verification of Appropriate California Credential(s)-Board of Trustees Approval
