Position Details:
  • Title: Special Education Teacher
  • Location: Forest Lake MN
  • Duration:
    • Start Date: August 31 2026
    • End Date: June 4 2027
  • Onsite/Virtual: Onsite
  • Position Type: Contract
  • Working Hours: 7:15 AM - 3:15 PM from Monday to Friday
  • Student Age Group: 9th-12th Grade
Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialized instruction and educational support to students in grades 9-12.
  • Develop implement and monitor Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
  • Adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet individual student needs.
  • Provide effective behavioral and classroom management support.
  • Work with students who may have emotional behavioral developmental or other specialized learning needs.
  • Monitor student academic behavioral and social-emotional progress.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers special education staff administrators counselors and related service providers.
  • Maintain accurate student records and required special education documentation.
  • Participate in IEP meetings staff meetings and other school-related activities.
  • Communicate effectively with families regarding student progress and educational needs.
  • Promote a safe supportive and inclusive learning environment.
Qualifications:
  • Valid Minnesota Special Education Teaching License in one or more of the following areas: EBD (Emotional or Behavioral Disorders) ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorders) ABS (Academic Behavioral Strategist).
  • Experience working with at-risk students preferably at the secondary level.
  • Strong experience and skills in behavior support and management.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary school team.
  • Experience working with high school students is preferred.
  • The district may be able to support an Out-of-Field Licensure Placement for qualified candidates who do not currently hold the exact required license.
