Description -
The Software Systems Engineer for Advanced Compute Solutions (ACS) Desktop Workstations is responsible for driving endtoend Windows software readiness for sustaining/refresh desktop workstation platforms. This role serves as the technical program owner for Windows OS integration ensuring ontime highquality software releases across engineering ODM partners factory operations and sustaining teams.
The Software System engineer represents Windows OS drivers HP Applications and validation within the system team and is accountable for schedule execution issue resolution and release readiness throughout product lifecycles.
Key Responsibilities:
Windows Refresh Program Ownership
Own Windows OS readiness for desktop workstation refresh programs from early bringup through RTM and factory release.
Drive endtoend Windows image driver application recovery and firmware enablement across HP engineering teams and ODM partners.
Define and manage Windows scope milestones and dependencies aligned to system refresh schedule.
CrossFunctional Technical Interaction
Serve as the Windows representative on the refresh team coordinating with:
Program management
OS Engineering (Windows)
BIOS/FW teams
Validation and Quality
Factory PIN and Supply Chain
ODM program management and engineering teams
Lead technical alignment and decisionmaking across stakeholders to resolve integration gaps and risks on refresh programs.
Issue Management & Escalation
Own Windowsrelated issue resolution/triage prioritization tracking and closure for refresh.
Host and drive tiger teams for critical blocking aging or bounce issues.
Release & RTM Execution
Ensure completion of Windows validation and readiness for:
Image RTM/Release
Web packages and Windows Update readiness
Factory and recovery media enablement
Drive Windows RTM communications and ensure downstream alignment across factory and service channels.
ODM & Factory Enablement
Writes and executes complete testing plans protocols and documentation for assigned portion of application.
Coordinate closely with ODM SEPMs to ensure Windows deliverables meet HP quality and schedule targets.
Support production line issues and field escalations related to Windows software.
Status Communication & Reporting
Consolidate and communicate Windows program status to refresh program management.
Maintain clear visibility of risks dependencies and recovery plans.
Required Qualifications
Four-year Degree in Computer Engineering Computer Science or any other Engineering related discipline.
Typically has 0-2 years of work experience preferably in systems engineering computer programming language or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Desktop or workstation platform experience.
Ability to read understand and write simple Windows scripts.
Risk management communication and presentation skills.
Success Indicators
Ontime Windows RTM aligned with refresh schedule.
Reduced latestage integration risk and escalations.
Clear ownership and accountability across HP and ODM teams.
Predictable wellcommunicated Windows software readiness for refresh platforms.
The pay range for this role is$65600to$101000USD annually with additional opportunities for pay in the form of bonus and/or equity (applies to United States of America candidates only). Pay varies by work location job-related knowledge skills and experience.
