Mission Technologies a division of Huntington Ingalls Industries is inviting applications for the position of EngineerMachine 1 to join our Integrated Product Support (IPS) team in Newport News VA. This is an exciting opportunityto become a part of a dynamic team of Engineers Designers Planners and PMAs who provide support to Facilityoperations at Newport News Shipbuilding. The ideal candidate should be a self-motivated individual who can workcollaboratively in a team environment to meet the needs of Facilities Engineering operations at NNS.
This engineering position will support Facilities Engineering to develop and execute projects with a focus onrobotics automation and advanced manufacturing technology equipment.
- Additional areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:Lead multidisciplinary project teams to oversee development and implementation of manufacturing facilityprojects across all project management phases
- Perform engineering oversight for design engineering disciplines: electrical mechanical electromechanicalcontrols and/or structural
- Provide field engineering field technical assessments and contractor management during construction
- Provide manufacturing process engineering and technology development
- Control project costs and schedules
- 0 years experience with Bachelors in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 4 years relevantexperience.
Candidate must have experience with Bachelors in Engineering from an ABET accredited program in one ofthe following disciplines: Electrical Computer Mechanical or Mechatronics. - Candidate must have experience developing custom GUIs HMIs or other operator interfaces
- Candidate must have experience analyzing design engineering requirements documents and electricalmechanical and structural drawings
- Candidate must have strong project management scheduling and organizational skills
- Candidate must have strong leadership and communication skillsCandidate must have strong computer skills Windows and MS Office Suite
- Candidate must have the ability to work independently and be a part of cross-functional teams inaccomplishment of complex tasks
- Candidate must have the ability to address technical quality and business aspects of a project
- Candidate must have the ability to complete assigned tasks on schedule and within budget
- Candidate must have the ability to learn independently through your own research and experimentation
- Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen.
- Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance
- Experience with automating or improving a process using robotic or industrial automation systems
- Developing software preferred language is C# / .NET with exposure to software engineering topics likeobject oriented programming SOLID principles and test driven development
- Familiarity with materials and processes in manufacturing
- Working in an industrial environment and demonstrating a positive attitude for safety
- Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification
May require working in an office industrial shipboard or laboratory environment. Capable of climbing ladders andtolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Must be available to work in the yard on-site.
