The Services Developer Experience team is seeking a talented Software Engineer to build the next generation of AI-powered developer tooling that hundreds of Apple engineers rely on this role youll design and implement intelligent agents that transform the software development lifecyclefrom initial development through testing deployment and create tools that serve both human developers and autonomous agents establishing patterns for AI-assisted workflows that scale across teams and improve both velocity and quality. This means building production-grade AI systems that handle code generation automated review intelligent testing deployment orchestration and continuous optimization. Your work will make AI capabilities a seamless integrated part of how developers build services at role combines deep engineering fundamentals with cutting-edge AI agent development. Youll tackle challenges spanning distributed systems developer tooling infrastructure and AI agent orchestration. Working closely with project managers and cross-functional partners youll translate requirements into resilient performant systems that continually evolve with the needs of Apples engineering looking for engineers with a foundation in agentic AI development who are excited to build practical production-grade AI capabilities that directly impact how thousands of developers work every day.

Design build and optimize scalable backend services and APIs in Java and Python to support developer efficiency workflows across with project managers to gather requirements and translate them into technical solutions that improve developer AI-driven tools and capabilities into production systems to automate workflows provide intelligent insights and enhance developer and maintain AI agents that are nEvolve platform architectures for reliability maintainability and performance at clean maintainable and well-tested code that upholds Apples high standard of engineering in code reviews architectural discussions and production troubleshooting sharing knowledge and elevating quality across the to CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation to enable rapid safe deployments.

2 years of industry experience building backend programming skills in Java and developing AI agents using libraries such as LangChain LlamaIndex Haystack or Claude Agent in integrating AI systems into developer tools or productivity with databases (relational and/or NoSQL) and scalable service communication skills and a collaborative MS or PhD in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent experiencenExperience with cloud infrastructure containerization and CI/CD pipelines.

Passion for developer experience and empathy for building tools that empower other with TypeScript and frontend with AI/ML frameworks (e.g. PyTorch TensorFlow) and LLM libraries (e.g. LangChain Hugging Face).nExperience with Kubernetes for container orchestration and with messaging systems (e.g. Kafka) and microservices of algorithms data structures and distributed systems principles.
