Job Summary
Overview
We are seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join an experienced Agile team delivering high-quality releases for a government-facing project. This role is ideal for a quality-focused engineer who takes pride in building robust scalable test automation and collaborating closely with development and product teams to ship reliable software.
Responsibilities
- Work within a SCRUM team to support delivery of high-quality on-schedule releases
- Collaborate with Product Development Product Management and other cross-functional groups throughout the SDLC
- Create and execute test plans test data and test cases covering web applications APIs and scheduled/batch processes in line with organizational testing standards
- Build and maintain test automation to streamline testing across multiple projects and test phases
- Enhance existing automation frameworks to improve reusability and maintainability
- Perform web API UI functional regression smoke black-box load/performance security and end-to-end testing
- Prepare testing artifacts including Test Plans Test Strategies Requirements Traceability Matrices (RTMs) and Test Reports
- Partner with development teams to reduce defect rates and conduct root cause analysis on recurring issues
- Evaluate system interfaces and operational/performance requirements in consultation with product development
- Contribute to the design of scalable reliable and fast automated test frameworks
- Design custom automation frameworks tailored to the application under test
- Maintain the test automation repository as part of the configuration management system
- Mentor and train other SDETs on custom frameworks and integration components
- Use CI/CD tools (e.g. Jenkins) to build test and deploy applications
Required Qualifications
- 7 years of experience implementing automated test solutions using a mix of open-source and commercial tools
- 2 years of hands-on programming/scripting experience in C# Python Java or similar languages for test automation
- Experience with test automation frameworks such as NUnit JUnit or equivalents
- Solid grasp of white-box testing techniques (control flow testing statement/path/decision coverage etc.)
- Strong foundation in quality engineering practices and methodologies
- Working knowledge of Agile/SCRUM practices
- Basic understanding of RDBMS concepts (e.g. Microsoft SQL Server)
- Understanding of web application architecture including hosting DNS APIs and client/server models
- Familiarity with CI/CD processes and version control/configuration management systems
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively across teams

- Experience with test case management tools (e.g. Microsoft Test Manager)
- Familiarity with Telerik Test Studio
- Demonstrated ability to plan create and execute test plans in fast-paced environments
