Software Development Engineer, Amazon Leo Antenna Development

Amazon Leo is building a constellation of 3236 satellites to deliver broadband from space. Our direct-to-device (D2D) program takes it further connecting everyday phones and devices directly to satellites. Come build it.

Were looking for a software engineer who wants to ship code to orbit. Youll own the pipelines that build sign and deploy software from the ground to a constellation of satellites. This isnt typical CI/CD. Youll work with hardware-in-the-loop test environments factory calibration stations and embedded Linux targets. Youll build simulation frameworks and cloud test infrastructure alongside 5G RF and embedded software engineers. The engineering challenge: scale software delivery to thousands of satellites reliably with no room for error. You dont need satellite experience to start but youll gain deep exposure to embedded systems hardware and space-grade engineering.

Were a small growing team inside Amazon Leo. We own the software layer for the satellite antenna payload the services and infrastructure that make beam-forming calibration and hardware control actually work. Youll work alongside embedded software engineers SDEs RF engineers and hardware teams and youll have real ownership from day one. Key job responsibilities
Do you want to put code in space Have you wanted an opportunity to develop the core wireless and networking for an advanced global telecom service spanning both space and terrestrial networks Have you wondered what it takes to solve a multi-dimentional resource allocation problem at global scale

- Own the software delivery path from ground to orbit pipelines that build sign and deploy to satellites
- Build factory test station software that calibrates phased-array antennas before they leave the floor
- Create simulation environments that let the team catch bugs before hardware exists
- Design cloud infrastructure that orchestrates tests across hardware-in-the-loop environments
- Shorten the loop between code written and validated on real hardware
- Work directly with 5G RF and embedded software engineers to understand what they need and build it

About the team

- 3 years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 3 years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 3 years of software development engineer or related occupational experience
- 3 years of designing and developing large-scale multi-tiered multi-threaded embedded or distributed software applications tools systems and services using: C# C Java or Perl experience
- 3 years of Object Oriented Design experience
- Bachelors degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science Engineering Mathematics or a related field
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language

- 3 years of full software development life cycle including coding standards code reviews source control management build processes testing and operations experience
- Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent
- Experience building test automation frameworks and tools
- Experience with Linux operating system embedded systems consumer devices or mobile apps
- Experience scripting in one or more language (e.g. Bash Python Perl Ruby) or experience working with device technologies under development familiarity with flashing firmware basic device debugging and familiarity with reading/pulling device logs
- Experience with AWS Services including EC2 Lambda S3 DynamoDB SQS

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience qualifications and location.
