Softball Coach

Position Type: Seasonal (Stipend Position)
Reports To: Athletic Director
School Level: High School (Grades 912)

The High School Girls Varsity Softball Head Coach is responsible for leading and managing all aspects of the varsity softball program. This includes player development team leadership practice and game preparation and fostering a positive educationally based athletic experience that aligns with school conference and MHSAA rules and regulations.

• Plan and organize effective daily practices focused on skill development teamwork and sportsmanship.
• Manage all varsity softball competitions and assist in the supervision of JV and junior high competitions.
• Develop and implement offensive and defensive systems appropriate for high school athletes.
• Supervise and evaluate student-athletes during practices games travel and team activities.
• Promote academic achievement character leadership and positive citizenship among student-athletes
• Communicate effectively with players parents assistant coaches and athletic administration.
• Collaborate with sub-varsity coaches to support a vertically aligned softball program.
• Maintain team discipline and enforce school and athletic department policies.
• Ensure compliance with all MHSAA conference and school district rules and regulations.
• Assist with scheduling transportation and equipment inventory as directed by the Athletic Director.
• Oversee safety procedures and proper use of facilities and equipment
• Represent the school and softball program in a professional and positive manner at all times
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director or school administration
• Foster a positive and competitive team culture that reflects the values of Summerfield Schools.

• Previous softball coaching experience preferred (high school or collegiate level desirable)
• Knowledge of softball fundamentals strategies and rules
• Ability to teach and motivate high school-aged student-athletes
• Strong organizational leadership and communication skills
• Commitment to the educational mission of school-based athletics
• Ability to work evenings weekends and travel with the team

Certifications & Requirements

• Current CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain
• Completion of all Summerfield School Districtrequired School Service Safe Videos
• Completion of all Summerfield School District and MHSAA coaching requirements
• MHSAA Coaches Advancement Program (CAP) compliance (if applicable)
• Background check and employment eligibility per district policy
