Salary Range: $29 -$32 per hour


POSITION SUMMARY:

The Ski & Ride School (SRS) Training Supervisor is responsible for developing and maintaining a comprehensive training program that equips instructors with the skills knowledge and confidence to deliver exceptional guest experiences. This position plans and executes training throughout the winter season while assisting the SRS Manager and SRS Administrator with interviewing and hiring trainers scheduling training staff coordinating weekly clinics and supporting instructor progression toward certification goals.

The Training Supervisor serves as a leader and role model withinSRS consistently representing the values mission and operational goals of the company while fostering those same standards among the instructor team. They are responsible for ensuring all training aligns with current PSIA/AASI teaching methodologies promotes continuous professional development and emphasizes the highest standards of safety professionalism and guest service. Through mentorship coaching and constructive feedback the Training Supervisor helps build a knowledgeable confident and cohesive instructor staff.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintain an organized clean and efficient workspace.
  • Assist with the management and administration of operations to produce successful professional and efficient experience for the members guests and employees which includes adult youth and childrens ski and ride programs.
  • Responsible for assisting with the hiring training and development of all training staff.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures including professional appearance standards dress code teaching standards guest service expectations and drug and alcohol policies.
  • Assist direct reports in the creation of annual goals and objectives that support those of Granby Ranch and the vision of the department.
  • Provide formal and informal feedback to instructors and recognize and reward exceptional performance.
  • Attend and actively participate in all operational SRS meetings and provide information regarding the training program.
  • Communicate with management and instructor staff regarding upcoming training events including but not limited to exam dates evening training sessions afternoon on-snow training sessions TTPs etc.
  • Must create a daily and monthly training plan for SRS staff based on the needs of instructors.
  • Organize and oversee ski and ride assessment(s) for inter-departmental employees.
  • Coordinate with other trainers that come to visit Granby Ranch.
  • Ensure departmental operating standards are being met daily. Meet with employees weekly to review these standards and assist with planning to continually improve the professionalism of SRS.
  • Communicate with management regarding the needs of the training program.
  • Maintain a positive and professional working attitude.
  • Provide guidance and training needed for instructors to reach their PSIA/AASI certification goals.
  • Adhere to and enforce child safety laws and mandated reporting.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support SRS operations.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Maintain a safe and secure workplace.
  • Plan for future growth for the current and coming seasons.
  • Teach lessons when requested by management. This will only be requested when all other options are exhausted during the busy times of the season.
  • Act as a positive professional role model adhering to the companys hospitality standards.
  • Maintain an exceptional level of guest service in all interaction with guests fellow employees and management.
  • Assist and support other departments for events and operations on high volume days.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

SKILLS KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Must be able to ski at a double black diamond level proficiently
  • Ability to snowboard at a green or blue level is strongly preferred.
  • Must have strong communication skills and interact courteously with staff and guests.
  • Must have extensive knowledge of the PSIA/AASI teaching standards and fundamentals.
  • Must exhibit excellent leadership skills.
  • Ability to supervise in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Ability to maintain a positive attitude when communicating with guests students and staff.
  • Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Adjusting actions in relation to others actions.
  • Actively looking for ways to help people.
  • Communicating effectively in writing as appropriate for the needs of the audience.
  • Ability to speak read write in English fluently. Ability to speak read and write in Spanish is preferred.

EDUCATION EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • College degree preferred.
  • Must hold a PSIA level 3 certification. Any further certifications are preferred.
  • 5 years experience teaching snow sports lessons is required.
  • 2 years of supervisory experience is required.
  • 2 years experience working with children is required.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Must be physically capable of performing strenuous exercise at feet with adverse weather conditions.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Dexterity for computer skills writing and gear adjustment.
  • Verbal and auditory abilities necessary for communication with others.
  • Provide own ski/ride equipment clothing and accessories necessary for working outdoors in a high alpine winter environment other than uniform and other provided equipment.
  • Must be available to work holidays and weekends.
