ABOUT THE ROLE
The Site Safety Coordinator is responsible for implementing and enforcing safety while acting as a daily go-to resource for internal teams and customer teams consistently providing a compliant and safe working environment on active commercial construction sites. The coordinator works closely with the field leadership and craftsmen to support and help maintain a strong jobsite safety culture through safe working practices that minimize risk.
Typical schedule: Monday- Friday 7:00 AM 3:30 PM but can vary by job site. High potential for overtime however this is based on production and contract requirements.
WHAT YOULL DO
  • Serve as first point of contact for addressing safety-related project questions and problem-solving.
  • Coordinate and track employee training requirements and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies job site safety plans and company policies.
  • Partner with the Safety Manager and Director to communicate needs trends and opportunities on the job site.
  • Participate in pre-task planning safety meetings toolbox talks and new worker orientations and trainings.
  • Investigate job related incidents and drug testing requirements to maintain compliance with the BWC and job site specific programs to ensure the employees receive proper treatment.
  • Assist with incident response fact-gathering and helping track follow-up actions.
  • Perform safety audits and inspections and reporting.
WHO YOU ARE
  • High School Diploma or GED required. Some experience in classroom or similar field role preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and confidence interacting with field teams and leadership reading technical manuals reports rules and procedures.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred (more than conversational).
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables and excellent grasp of process management.
  • Basic math skills required to calculate percentages track safety metrics interpret measurements and maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar program.
  • Ability to spend substantial time on an active construction site and travel locally if needed.
  • CHST Certification preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The physical requirements are those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without reasonable accommodations:
  • The physical demands of this position require the ability to communicate orally and in writing hear at a conversational level use both hands distinguish depth and operate a motor vehicle.
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee will frequently (34-66% time on job) will be required to stand walk grip with pressure and twist or bend wrists. Occasionally (6-33% time on job) the employee will be required to sit use fingers. Infrequently (2-5% time on job) the employee may be required to climb up to 5 flights of stairs carry 10 lbs. up to 10 ft. and keep wrists and feet in prolonged positions of flexion or extension. Rarely (1% time on the job or less) the employee will be required to stoop balance kneel crawl reach repeatedly bend perform hand over hand pulling twist while rotating the torso climb ladders up to 6 ft. pull 5 lbs. up to 5 ft. push 10 lbs. up to 10 ft. lift up to 35 lbs. and use hand and foot controls.
