Job Summary
The Site Manager Operations and Maintenance is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation maintenance and performance of the baggage handling system. This role ensures the safe efficient and timely processing of all baggage while coordinating closely with internal teams contractors and third-party service providers. The Site Manager has overall accountability for the site and its personnel ensuring system reliability and driving continuous improvement across all aspects of the baggage handling operation. This role will support our Operations and Maintenance Site in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG).
Key Responsibilities:
BHS Operations Management:
- Supervise and manage the daily operation of the baggage handling system (BHS) ensuring optimal performance safety and compliance with airport standards.
- Monitor baggage flow assess system efficiency and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Oversee BHS equipment including conveyors automated systems and sorters ensuring they operate at peak efficiency.
- Understand the contract deliverables and ensure our teams exceed these.
Maintenance & Troubleshooting:
- Work closely with the maintenance team to schedule and oversee preventive maintenance addressing minor repairs and ensuring all BHS components are fully operational.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts during operational disruptions and coordinate repairs with internal and external teams.
- Document and report any system downtime operational failures or significant issues to upper management.
- Ensure investigation into root cause investigation and prevention actions are documented and reviewed with the team and customer.
Staff Management:
- Supervise a team of BHS Technicians Supervisors and other personnel ensuring they are properly trained and follow established safety procedures.
- Manage work schedules team performance and provide regular feedback.
- Promote a culture of safety teamwork and continuous improvement within the team.
- Implement continuous training and upskilling BEUMER personnel for advancement and succession planning.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with all safety and security regulations industry standards and airport policies related to the facilities and the baggage handling system.
- Conduct regular safety audits risk assessments and emergency drills to prepare for system failures or baggage-related incidents.
- Ensure proper handling of hazardous materials and maintain compliance with airport security protocols.
- Ensure team training and understanding of reporting requirements of incidents and actions items to prevent recurrence.
Coordination with Stakeholders:
- Liaise with airlines ground handling companies security personnel and other relevant parties to ensure baggage handling meets operational standards.
- Act as the primary point of contact for any system-related issues acting as the intermediary between different teams and departments.
- Ensure procedures for baggage handling in emergency or contingency situations.
- Promote over communication to Airport Authorities and relevant stakeholders.
Performance Reporting & Analysis:
- Prepare and present regular reports on BHS performance including system uptime operational issues maintenance activities and staffing requirements.
- Analyze system performance data and recommend enhancements to improve efficiency reduce downtime and ensure a smooth flow of baggage and operation.
Project Management:
- Lead or assist in the implementation of BHS-related projects including upgrades new installations or system expansions.
- Coordinate with external contractors engineers and vendors on capital projects related to baggage handling.
- Financial budgeting and reporting/business sense.
Compensation range: $110000.00 - $120000.00 Annually
The posted salary range reflects the compensation the company reasonably expects to offer for this position. Actual compensation will not be less than the posted minimum and will be based on multiple factors.
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Engineering Operations Management or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing or overseeing baggage handling systems airport operations or related technical environments.
- Relevant certifications in airport operations safety or equipment management preferred.
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain airside security clearance.
- Experience in supervising teams and managing complex technical systems.
- Knowledge of airport operational standards safety procedures and regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions quickly and efficiently.
- Technical proficiency in the operation and maintenance of automated baggage handling systems.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong knowledge of safety protocols and emergency response procedures in an airport setting.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining composure.
- Occasional travel to meet with contractors vendors or attend industry training sessions.
Work Environment:
- Operates in a fast-paced airport setting with exposure to noise moving machinery and variable temperatures.
- Requires flexibility to work nights weekends and holidays as part of a rotating shift schedule.
- Frequent walking climbing bending and standing across large terminal and baggage areas.
