OPRF WHO WE ARE

Oak Park and River Forest High School or OPRF is a comprehensive public high school located in Oak Park IL a suburb eight miles due west of downtown Chicago. We are a one-school district with the majority of our students coming from two sender districts River Forest Public Schools District 90 and Oak Park Elementary School District 97. We offer more than 200 courses a variety of programs for students with special needs 103 clubs and activities and 34 competitive sports. We prepare our students well for post-secondary success with an average ACT composite score of 24 and a 96% graduation rate.

Oak Park and River Forest are communities that highly value diversity. Position Description:
Show Choir (called Noteworthy) is a student performance group where students combine singing with Dance Movements and perform at OPRF as well as in the community.

Qualifications:

1. Experience leading or teaching students.
2. Ability to recruit and maintain diverse membership
3. Ability to establish leadership board within club.
4. Ability to organize group practices and events for the group.
5. Ability to meet sponsor expectations as stated in Student Activities Sponsor Handbook.
6. Organized and have positive attitude.
7. Collaborative.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Select songs hire arrangers/arrange hire choreographers/choreograph for the show choir set.
2. Plan/prepare instruction for vocal and dance rehearsals Tuesdays 6:30-8:45 Thursdays 6:30-8:45 and some Saturdays 12:00-4:00 in September - early December then again mid-March through end of April.
3. Plan auditions.
4. Work with band director to coordinate band/choir rehearsals and performances.
5. Coordinate costume purchase for group.
6. Coordinate travel and performances at local gigs in the fall including middle schools and retirement homes.
7. Coordinate and prepare for competition at Herscher Swing and Sing in March.
8. Coordinate and prepare for concert at end of April.
9. Attend Sponsor Meetings and meet expectations given by the Student Activities Director.
