Job Summary

Summary

This is a public notice flyer to notify interested applicants of anticipated vacancies. Applications will not be accepted through this flyer. Duties
  • You will build and position supporting cradles for dry-docking submarines.
  • You will cut shape and assemble prepared parts of high grade articles.
  • You will erect and dismantle tube and clamp/systems scaffolding for interior/exterior submarines.
  • You will remove and install thermal and acoustic polyamide insulation on the interior of the ship.
  • You will lay out and install new hull insulation or make repairs by patching existing insulation during refit.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets gloves coveralls glasses goggles respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes dust heat ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current IT-II Level Designation.

  1. Assisting senior level shipwrights with building and maintaining submarine drydocking equipment.
  2. Read and interpret blueprints and instructions assigned within the shipwright trade.
  3. Assisting senior level shipwrights with fabricating wooden articles and equipment such as shoring work benches and plaque boards.
  4. Assisting senior level shipwrights in building and positioning cradles hull blocks bilge blocks and other structures used to dry dock vessels.
  5. Assists senior level shipwrights with the construction of staging and scaffolding for elevated work such as sandblasting and painting.

  2. Read and interpret blueprints instructions specifications and docking worksheets to perform jobs assigned within the shipwright trade.
  3. Fabricating wooden articles and equipment such as showing cribbing wedges chart tables work benches and plaque boards.
  4. Assign work and give guidance to junior level shipwrights based on the experience level of the junior shipwright ensuring policies and safety guidelines are met.
  5. Establishing lines and layouts based on frame numbers for installation of pad eyes and layout of equipment for exterior surfaces.
