Job Summary
The Lead Loading Shipping & Receiving Associate serves as the senior-level operational resource within the Shipping and Receiving department. This position performs all responsibilities of the Loader I Loader II and Loader III roles while providing day-to-day leadership work direction training and coordination for shipping receiving inventory and loading activities.
The Lead Associate ensures that shipments are completed accurately safely and on schedule while promoting quality standards continuous improvement and operational efficiency. This role acts as the primary point of contact for production transportation providers and warehouse personnel and assists the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor in coordinating departmental activities and achieving business objectives.
KEY OBJECTIVES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform all duties associated with Loader I Loader II and Loader III positions.
Coordinate daily shipping receiving loading and warehouse activities to ensure customer delivery requirements and production schedules are met.
Assign and prioritize workload among department team members based on business needs.
Provide training coaching and on-the-job instruction for new and existing employees.
Monitor employee adherence to safety policies quality standards and operating procedures.
Act as a departmental subject matter expert for shipping documentation inventory transactions and transportation requirements.
Review Bills of Lading (BOLs) Load Tickets shipping paperwork and receiving documentation for accuracy and completeness.
Support inventory accuracy through cycle counts physical inventories transaction verification and discrepancy resolution.
Communicate with production customer service transportation providers and leadership regarding shipment priorities and operational issues.
Troubleshoot loading shipping receiving and inventory-related concerns and escalate issues when necessary.
Assist with workforce scheduling shift transitions and workflow coordination in partnership with department leadership.
Monitor trailer utilization load quality shipping accuracy and overall department productivity.
Ensure department equipment inspections are completed and that forklifts and material handling equipment are used safely and effectively.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety quality delivery inventory accuracy and efficiency.
Fill in for the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor during absences as directed.
Maintain departmental records reports and tracking metrics as required.
Support onboarding cross-training and employee development efforts.
Assist with audits compliance activities and customer requirements as needed.
Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications :
Advanced knowledge of shipping receiving warehouse and inventory control processes.
Demonstrated ability to lead and coordinate the work of others in a team environment.
Strong understanding of transportation regulations shipping documentation and freight processes.
Proficiency in preparing and reviewing Bills of Lading (BOLs) Load Tickets shipping manifests and receiving documents.
Strong forklift material handling and loading experience.
Working knowledge of inventory management systems and related computer applications.
Ability to identify process improvement opportunities and implement solutions.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Effective problem-solving decision-making and conflict-resolution abilities.
Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing business demands.
Demonstrated commitment to safety quality customer service and operational excellence.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and company ERP systems.
Ability to train mentor and develop employees.
