Under general direction of the Manager Engineering Services performs a full range of duties with sheet metal work and HVAC system maintenance on MATCs physical facilities and equipment. Work is performed with considerable independent judgment. Supervision received is general in nature using established procedures and general objectives. Works closely with other professionals in a team approach.

- Fabricates installs troubleshoots maintains modifies and repairs heating ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) and physical plant equipment including but not limited to fans fan motors sheaves belts bearings dampers controls operators ductwork filters package HVAC and built-up HVAC units lockers doors desks furniture restroom partitions tools exterior sheet metal and stainless steel surfaces.
- Removes dismantles and cleans HVAC equipment.
- Air balances complex HVAC systems.
- Constructs guards bumpers housings carts tools ducts brackets and pans. Secures and installs academic and service equipment.
- Independently troubleshoots HVAC problems.
- Welds cuts bends forms joins and rivets sheet metal and other materials.
- Maintains specifies and inventories sheet metal and related metal repair parts; repair of equipment and facilities.
- Provides technical assistance to Operations Department and Trades personnel for the daily operations maintenance and repair of equipment and facilities.
- Coordinates and trains contract sheet metal workers.
- Assists in the coordination and inspection of contracted modifications and installations
- Attends in-servicetrainingworkshopsandothereducationalactivitiesas requiredorassigned.
- Performs other related duties as required for the efficient operations of the division.
- Qualifications
Compliance with all state federal and accreditation standards/requirements as well as all MATC policies and procedures.
- Required Education: High school diploma or G.E.D.
- Required Experience: Six (6) years of experience in building or industrial maintenance and HVAC resolution experience.
- Required License/Certification: Journeyman Sheet metal mechanic certificate of Apprenticeship; valid Wisconsin drivers license and personal transportation in which tools and equipment can be transported and possess other basic tools of the trade.
Preferred Education:Some college-level coursework or Technical/Associates degree with coursework in related field.
Preferred Experience:Prefer more than six (6) years of relevant experience.
Knowledge Skills And Abilities- Advanced skill in sheet metal construction and metal fabricating methods: welding cutting shearing forming bending drilling threading etc.
- Knowledge of operating and air balancing complex HVAC systems controls and ability to operate measurement instruments.
- Ability to perform all duties usually associated with journeyman sheet metal work.
- Ability to read interpret and work from drawing plans and/or specifications.
- Ability to estimate labor materials and costs from job site inspections and/or plans.
- Ability to measure plan and prepare specifications and sketches for minor sheet metal projects.
- Ability to coordinate and direct the work of contracted sheet metal mechanics.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently.
- Ability to record duties performed.
- Knowledge of and proficiency in the use of a personal computer computer applications and software such as Microsoft Office Suite including Word and Excel.
- Ability to communicate effectively through both oral and written means.
- Ability to work with culturally diverse student and employee populations.
- Ability to work successfully with minimal supervision.

- Supplemental Information
This is a full-time in-person position based primarily at the Downtown Milwaukee campus. This position serves the entire district and requires travel to all campuses. Employees in this position typically work 40 hours per week consisting of 8-hour shiftsMonday through Friday with standard hours generally between 6:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Work hours and schedules are subject to change based on operational and departmental needs.
