Job Summary
Program OverviewThe Compressed Air Service Technician Co-Op Program provides hands-on real-world experience for students pursuing careers in industrial maintenance mechanical systems electromechanical technology or HVAC-related trades. Participants work alongside experienced technicians to learn the fundamentals of compressed air systems preventive maintenance diagnostics and customer service in industrial program is designed as a pipeline into full-time service technician roles upon successful ResponsibilitiesTechnical & Field SupportAssist senior service technicians with installation maintenance and repair of:Rotary screw compressorsReciprocating compressorsDryers filters drains and ancillary equipmentSupport preventive maintenance activities including:Oil changes filter replacement belt inspectionsBasic mechanical checks and system inspectionsObserve and assist with troubleshooting of mechanical electrical and pneumatic issuesLearn proper use of diagnostic tools and service documentationSafety & ComplianceFollow all safety procedures lock-out/tag-out protocols and PPE requirementsParticipate in safety training and toolbox talksMaintain clean and organized job sites and service vehiclesCustomer & Team InteractionInteract professionally with customers under supervisionLearn job documentation service reports and work order systemsSupport warehouse and parts handling when requiredLearning ObjectivesBy the end of the co-op participants will gain exposure to:Fundamentals of compressed air systems and applicationsMechanical and electrical troubleshooting basicsPreventive maintenance best practicesField service professionalism and customer engagementIndustrial safety standards and proceduresQualificationsRequiredCurrently enrolled in or recently accepted into a technical vocational or community college program related to:Industrial MaintenanceElectromechanical TechnologyMechanical TechnologyHVAC / Industrial SystemsStrong interest in hands-on mechanical workWillingness to work in industrial environmentsValid drivers license (or ability to obtain during program)Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varied physical conditionsPreferredBasic mechanical or electrical coursework completedPrior shop maintenance or trade experience (school or work)Strong work ethic curiosity and coachabilityProgram OutcomesSuccessful co-op participants may be eligible for:Full-time Service Technician rolesContinued apprenticeship or training pathwaysManufacturer-supported technical certificationsLong-term career development in industrial service
