The Role
This team defines the enterprise strategy for how high-voltage batteries will be safely efficiently and economically serviced across their full lifecycle. It works across service engineering root cause remanufacturing recycling analytics and aftersales readiness to improve product design enable scalable repair solutions and maximize battery value through reuse repair and end-of-life optimization.
This position may be filled with a Senior Serviceability Design Engineer or Serviceability Design Engineer. The level for this role will be determined based on the selected candidates qualifications skills and experience.
What Youll Do: Serviceability Design Engineer
Define service strategies for high-voltage battery packs including repair paths component replacement and non-serviceable content.
Develop serviceability requirements and influence battery designs to improve safe efficient and cost-effective repairs.
Lead special service tool specification development validation and sourcing for battery service and internal repairs.
Coordinate cross-functional readiness across parts packaging training field support supply chain and remanufacturing.
Support launch execution by resolving service issues validating processes and ensuring aftersales readiness milestones.
Partner with suppliers and internal teams to review designs evaluate prototypes and drive issue resolution.
Develop lifting handling and safety strategies for battery pack service using engineering analysis and test data.
Present service recommendations risks and progress updates to leadership to support timely enterprise decisions.
What Youll Do: Senior Serviceability Design Engineer
Define and own the serviceability strategy for high-voltage battery systems across the full product lifecycle including repair architecture replacement boundaries diagnostic pathways and non-serviceable content decisions.
Establish serviceability requirements and drive their integration into battery system designs to improve safety repair efficiency cost and downstream operational scalability.
Influence battery pack module and component design decisions through early program engagement technical reviews tradeoff assessments and cross-functional alignment.
Lead development validation sourcing and implementation of special service tools internal repair equipment and handling solutions required to support production and field service operations.
Drive enterprise readiness across service parts packaging training field support supply chain warranty remanufacturing and recycling teams to ensure complete aftersales execution.
Lead technical evaluation of repair concepts prototype builds validation events and pilot repair processes to confirm feasibility robustness and safety compliance.
Develop and govern lifting handling containment and high-voltage safety strategies for battery pack service using engineering analysis testing lessons learned and field feedback.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for battery serviceability topics with internal engineering teams suppliers and strategic partners driving timely issue resolution and decision-making.
Support vehicle and battery launches by identifying service risks early resolving barriers to readiness and ensuring delivery of critical service milestones procedures tools and support plans.
Analyze field issues service trends and root cause information to drive continuous improvement in battery service methods design standards and lifecycle strategies.
Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineers and cross-functional teams in serviceability best practices battery repair strategy and safe service execution.
Present service strategy design recommendations risks investment needs and execution status to senior leadership to enable informed enterprise decisions.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications): Serviceability Design Engineer
Bachelors degree; Electrical Software Systems Computer Science Computer Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
Strong knowledge of high-voltage battery architecture diagnostics serviceability and safe repair execution.
1 - 3 years of experience developing service strategies for battery systems across launch readiness and aftersales support.
Proven ability to define serviceability requirements and influence product designs through cross-functional collaboration.
Experience specifying validating and sourcing special service tools for battery service and repair.
Strong technical judgment in evaluating repair concepts safety risks and practical service solutions.
Ability to manage suppliers prototypes reviews and issue resolution with urgency and accountability.
Effective communication skills to present technical recommendations risks and decisions to leadership and stakeholders.
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications): Senior Serviceability Design Engineer
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering Mechanical Engineering Systems Engineering Computer Engineering Software Systems Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience.
Significant experience in high-voltage battery systems including architecture diagnostics serviceability and safe repair execution.
3 years of demonstrated experience developing and leading service strategies for battery systems across design launch readiness and aftersales support.
Proven ability to define technical requirements and influence product designs through cross-functional leadership and strong engineering judgment.
Deep experience specifying validating sourcing and implementing special service tools and repair solutions for complex electromechanical systems.
Strong technical judgment in evaluating service concepts repair feasibility safety risks and design tradeoffs across serviceability cost and manufacturability.
Demonstrated ability to lead suppliers prototype builds technical reviews and issue resolution activities with urgency ownership and accountability.
Experience working across multiple organizations to align engineering safety supply chain service and business stakeholders toward common outcomes.
Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to present complex technical recommendations risks and decisions to senior leaders and cross-functional teams.
Ability to operate independently in ambiguous environments set direction and drive execution on high-impact technical initiatives.
